Welcome to Hillside Chalet, your cozy home-away-from-home nestled in the hills of Schuss Mountain! This spacious 4-bedroom, 3-bath chalet sleeps up to 14 guests—perfect for large families or groups looking for a fun, relaxing Northern Michigan getaway.

Guests rave about the breathtaking hillside views, adorable décor, and the unbeatable location—just a short walk to the ski pathway for easy slope access. In winter, enjoy skiing or even a bit of night sledding right outside the back porch. In summer, explore golf, boating, and peaceful morning walks through Shanty Creek’s scenic neighborhood.

Inside, the chalet feels homey and comfortable, with two living areas, a wood-burning fireplace, and plenty of cozy spots to gather, play games, or watch a movie. The well-stocked, cozy kitchen has everything from crockpots to blenders, making family meals a breeze. Step onto the large deck for your morning coffee or evening stargazing by the fire pit.

You’ll also enjoy high-speed internet, a gas grill, washer/dryer

Families love the space, comfort, and nostalgic charm—many say it brings back “memories of skiing as a kid at Schuss Mountain.” Come make new ones at Hillside Chalet, where views, comfort, and connection come naturally.

All guests must be 25 or older, unless families with small children. A refundable $500 security deposit is required and will be refunded after departure, if there are no issues.

The cutest stay!

This property is exactly what you think of when you think of an up north adventure! It fit our entire crew of 4 families with space to spare. The walk to the hill was beautiful, and it was so nice to not have to drive down the mountain and park in the parking lot. We will rent again for sure!

We loved this property it was a great place to stay for sking at shanty, we had to walk down the road a little to access the slope at bells bottom but it was no biggy at all! It's a fun little chalet in the woods!

We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend with family. We were able to walk to the Mountain with our skis. Tressia and company are always very attentive to facilitate our accommodations.

All our kids fit in the loft with ther sleeping bags (9) 😆; Leaving the walkout basement to the dads. Easy skate up the road to the ski hill. Fire places on both floors work great!

Nice location for skiing

Unit was clean and in a great location for skiing. Very retro feel as if you are stepping back into the 70's but we enjoyed it. Beautiful view off the deck. Kitchen pots and pans are Teflon and all scratched up so they could use replacements and could use new bath towels.

Very comfortable stay. Needs a deep cleaning. Lots of spider webs Took garage to end of driveway but no room as the bins were full. Could not find spare key just the one in lock box and informed property manager who responded to concerns of garbage but not key issue. Heat register on floor by single door wall became so hot 2 family members burned themselves Kitchen well equipped bathrooms very clean. Ski in and ski out was really a 2-3 block hike but easier then hauling ski equipment by car. Will definitely return

Weekend Getaway

Despite being outdated, this home was very cozy and had a beautiful view! The place was in a great location not too far from Bellaire and perfect for our friends getaway weekend. The concerns we had are as follows: one of the rooms smelled like dog, a window was left open so it got really cold one night and we didn’t know why, the fridge had sticky spills from who knows how long, and we found old moldy food in the oven. It was pretty expensive for the lack of cleanliness. But cozy nonetheless! We probably wouldn’t stay here again but it was a great option for last-minute booking this weekend.
