THE PHOEBE - The Beautiful NettieBay Lodge
THE PHOEBE
SLEEPS: 4 BEDROOMS: 1 BATHROOMS: 1 LAKEVIEW (Lake Nettie--along the bay) *PRIVATE DOCK *SANDY BOTTOM BEACH *ATVs ARE ENCOURAGED *SNOWMOBILING ON PROPERTY *SHARED WIFI (at the Nettie Bay Lodge, 1/4 mile down the driveway) *PRIVATE FIRE PIT
The Phoebe (Green) is the most private of the NettieBay Cottages with a beautiful view of NettieBay, about a 1/4 mile along the bay, where you can only see the docks from the other cottages. Set in a canopy of greenery, there are no direct neighbors on either side. Enjoy this newly renovated cottage with a comfortable kitchen, bath and living area. The screened in porch makes for a pleasant evening. The Phoebe is a comfortable family getaway. While staying at the Phoebe, you will find a picnic table, a 14' boat and your own private dock; so, feel free to bring your canoes, kayaks or jet skis to pop in the water. In addition, there are a couple of Adirondack chairs to relax in as you roast marshmallows over your private fire-pit.
NettieBay was a great getaway moment after the summer season concluded. No one else around except for our hosts--our hosts gave us a nice warm greeting upon our arrival and their communication was awesome. The evenings were silent and best of all, no Wi-Fi! For once we were completely shut off from the rest of the world and left alone to enjoy ourselves. Thank you Mark and wife, Mario & Claudia
We were very happy with our stay, it was relaxing and absolutely beautiful on the lake. It was also nice being secluded from other cottages. We were disappointed in just a few things: the outlet in the bathroom didnât work so I could either dry my hair only at the dining room table or in the kitchen because there were also no outlets in the bedroom. The outlet in the living room was not working either :( No tv is fine but we also didnât have any signal on our phones for texts or calls, which may be important for some people to know when they visit. The front porch light was not working. We tried to change the light bulb but it still didnât work. We only had 1 extra trash bag. There was one mirror, which was above the sink in the bathroom but it gets foggy and you canât seem to wipe it clear or see very well in it. Would be great if there was a full length mirror or regular mirror in the bedroom. There were very little essentials. No seasonings for food except a salt substitute and pepper but it seemed old. Other than these small things, which could be corrected, the cottage was great đ
There was a mix up with our booking on this site so we did not stay in the cabin. Luckily I called before making the 4 hour drive up. The owners were quick and very responsive to do what they could to correct the situation. Unfortunately all of their other cabins were booked or did not allow dogs. If we decide to travel to this area in the future we would definitely check the availability of this cabin AND confirm with the owners that our reservation was received. NOTE: If you don't receive information about accessing (keys, lockbox, ect.) a rental property close to your arrival date your reservation likely has issues.
Overall we had an excellent stay! It was really great to have a quiet and peaceful time. The only bitter sweet moments we had is there is hardly any cell service and there is no TV or radio in the cabin, so be prepared for a true disconnect from the outside world. Bring a radio with you. There are some great books to read along with some cards and games in the cabin though. Also I would recommend against this cabin if you are... plus sized so to speak. The bathroom is almost unusable if you are a large framed person. But you are in the woods and if you're the size of a bear.. do as the Roman's do I say!
These minor things aside I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for peace and seclusion. I would definitely stay here again.
Had a two night stay, and it was exactly what we were looking for. Cabin was clean, and aired out nicely. Had everything we needed. No problems at all. Very pretty views and a relaxing experience.
Not sure if it was a VRBO problem or Owner. But we booked during availability and I got confirmation I was all set even though we later found out it was not available. If I wouldnât have tried to contact the owners I would have never found out that my days I paid for werenât even available until I arrived. But Mark made it right. Communication through the VRBO APP was zero. So I had to continue to contact him by phone instead of through the VRBO app.
As far as the lodge. There were a lot of ants. But otherwise very clean and a very nice cabin with a beautiful view.
We had a horrible storm run through the first full day of our stay and we had just happened to run into town when the wind knocked down some big trees and blocked our two track back to the cabin and brought down power lines to the cabin.
We we tried to get back to the cabin we couldnât. Mark took us by pontoon to the cabin so we could pack our things. He offered to put us in a different lodge the last night but We decided we would just head home then, instead of packing the car again in the morning to leave.
The time we stayed was very peaceful and relaxing. We would go again for sure. It was an adventure. But nothing Mark could do about it. What an experience and memory.
