Wonderful view of Mount Vesuvius. Found the cabin a little small but was out most of the time. The shuttle bus was a godsend. Staff very friendly. Pool looked great but didn’t use it. Lots to see and do. Pompeii and Capri were fab.

Italy's most iconic resort town, Sorrento is a bustling beauty built on the side of a dramatic cliff, overlooking the clear, cerulean waters of the Mediterranean and the imposing Mount Vesuvius. Since there is no way to fly to Sorrento directly, you'll have to arrive at the nearby Naples International Airport (NAP)—about an hour away from the village itself.

Though there is no way to fly into the seaside gem itself, many Sorrento hotels will provide shuttle service to and from NAP. If your hotel doesn't, there are always taxis available, and it's easy to rent a car. Additionally, there are several buses that you can catch periodically outside the arrival gates, and at least six trips per day are made by buses between the Naples airport and Sorrento. Alternatively, though it can be a bit difficult with lots of luggage, public transportation is actually a fantastic option because it involves a fun and scenic ferry ride across the Bay of Naples. Simply take a bus toward Acton-beverello or a short cab ride to Napoli Beverello, where you can then catch the Napoli Beverello–Sorrento ferry. It will cross the bay in about 45 minutes, and you can enjoy prime views of gorgeous cliffside homes on one side and Mount Vesuvius on the other.
