Secluded Setting On French Creek In The Southern Black Hills

Secluded and comfortable three bedroom home located on the famous French Creek known as the "Jewel of the Black Hills". The house is vintage 1970's architecture and filled with character. There is an outdoor shower, as well as an outdoor cooktop and grill and a firepit. French Creek runs along the length of the property - on sunny days there are two large turtles that love to sunbathe on the tree over the creek. Deer and wild turkeys are often grazing in the yard. The five acre property shares a boundary with the Black Hills National Forest. Custer State Park and Blue Bell Lodge are a five minute drive away. The City of Custer is only a ten minute drive (eight miles) and offers unique shopping and dining. The house is conveniently located within 30 minutes of Mount Rushmore, Wind Cave National Park, Sylvan Lake, Jewel Cave, Black Elk Peak, Needles Highway, the Mickelson Trail and all the sites, activities and beautiful scenery the Hills have to offer. Fish for trout in French Creek without leaving the property, or head out for a hike in any direction. Children welcome, no smoking, no pets.

This home is beautiful inside and outside, fully stocked, and very welcoming. Comfortable beds and seating areas. We loved our time here visiting. The quiet, deer, French Creek, star gazing, just overall a peaceful vacation. The hosts were very helpful and answered all questions. The cleaning staff did such a wonderful job, the home was spotless when we entered. Will would recommend this lovely property to anyone. It was simply perfect, way beyond five stars.

This is a lovely house on a large lot off a well maintained dirt road with a creek behind it. Upon entering is a living area to the left and the kitchen/dining area behind. A few steps down is a game room and one bedroom with a bath outside the bedroom (it has the only shower in the house). Up 6 or so steps from the main floor are 2 bedrooms – one to either side with a shared bathroom (tub only) between them. Greeting us in the kitchen was a nice basket of goodies – a bottle of wine, popcorn, and other snacks that were great to take on our hikes. It is VERY quiet here! Lots of land, with a mountain behind the house. We saw deer in the evenings. What a great place to come back to after a day of hiking and busyness. The owners were very communicative.

Our stay was wonderful! We loved the location of this house. It was a great location for visiting all the parks. We especially enjoyed Custer State Park where we saw a lot of wildlife; bighorn sheep, bison, turkeys, burros, deer and prairie dogs.The kitchen was well equipped for cooking. We appreciated the welcome basket with wine and snacks. The yard was so peaceful with the stream and the deer that stopped by in the morning and evening. We enjoyed grilling and the fire pit.The house was very clean. The beds were very comfortable.Todd was very helpful, answering all of our questions and providing insights about the area. Based on his recommendation, we ate lunch at the Alpine Inn which was definitely the best meal of our trip.

This property is a Black Hills gem! Beautiful home situated along Lower French Creek adjacent to the Black Hills National Forest and close to Custer State Park. The home has all the amenities one would want, including the unique outdoor shower which our family loved. Michelle and Todd have created an oasis filled with thoughtful touches. Wonderful place to stay in the Black Hills!

This property exceeded all our expectations! When looking for somewhere to stay we wanted a place that was more secluded that would also be within distance of all of the places we wanted to visit. This property was beautiful and offered incredible views of the southern Black Hills. We enjoyed the pretty view of the stream and getting to see the deer and rabbits in the yard each day! We visited the Badlands, Rapid City, Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Wall Drug, and Deadwood. The location was perfect for us and made it easy for us to get to go to all of our desired destinations! The check-in and out process was very simple and convenient with the hosts being very communicative! The house itself was very clean and felt cozy. It had wonderful kitchen space and met all of our needs. The welcome basket was a very sweet touch and we got to chat with Todd one morning who was a very kind, helpful host! Overall, our stay was great and I would highly recommend staying here to anyone considering visiting the Black Hills area!

We loved our stay!

Our family stayed here the week of the Fourth of July and had the best time! The property is absolutely gorgeous and we spent as much time outside as possible. We played in the trees, fished in the creek, and ate our meals at the outdoor table. We loved the seclusion but also the close proximity to downtown Custer and the State Park. The beds were very comfortable the house was clean and well-appointed. Highly recommend!

The pictures do not do this home justice. Full living and dinning room with full stone wall and thru fireplace, absolutly wonderful. Game room was perfect for card games after a day of hiking. This is the cleanest home we have rented and we rent remote locations a couple times a year. The only dirt in the house was what we drug in! The weather was colder and rainy so we did not get to enjoy the awesome outdoor setup but top of the line for sure. More amenities than a family of 4 could use and a perfect welcome basket. The hosts responded to the couple of questions we had within minutes. We typically do not go to the same location twice but if we are ever in the Blackhills again we would book here first.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The owners, Todd and Michelle were quick to respond to any text. The house was spotless and very comfortable. We never took advantage of having the grill and outside patio, but it looked very inviting!! We walked down by the stream and also enjoyed watching the deer in the yard in the mornings and evenings. It was such a calm, peaceful setting and was so welcoming when we returned after each day’s adventure!

Sturgis Rally

This is a beautiful property, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was secluded which was great, well stocked kitchen and we loved cooking on the outdoor grill. If you’re on a motorcycle be aware that it’s 3 miles of gravel road to the house but it’s been treated, the dust was low and we didn’t have any issues. The location was perfect to go see all the sites! Lots of great restaurants in Custer too. Todd was great to talk with, sorry we didn’t get to meet Michelle. Wonderful experience, we’ll definitely be back.
