Room was dirty when I checked in and I had to wait for someone to come all the way to the property to look at it and then wait hours for them to clean it, it was booked for my 21st birthday

We felt like we were in a different era, it was wonderful. We were not pleased that there was no parking available and we had to park across the street. We would have liked more than one towel each. All in all tho, it was a great experience. Loved Google voice command. A continental breakfast would be nice that would complete the experience for sure.

No parking on property, but easily found parking on a street nearby. No staff, but was left some very easy to follow directions on how to get into the building and then unto the room. LOVED the room, will stay there again if i end up in denver.

Hotel was in great location, close to everything I needed to do in Denver. The 2 clerks (am & pm) seemed indifferent, with little customer service. When I informed one about the lack of front light her boredom was palpable. If you hate your job, quit. Even though there were "no smoking" signs clearly another guest smoked in their room (no one was in the smoking courtyard) which caused headaches to me late pm and early am. After these guests checked out, the smoke stopped. For the price, the hotel should be better maintained. Pain is chipped, no working light at front door (very problematic in evening), and bathroom & kitchens barely clean. The bedroom curtains were stained. I am not a fussy person and very familiar with living in old places [I used to live on Humboldt street in an old converted home] but given the price charged it seems like little expense is paid to upkeep.

DON'T BELIEVE THE PHOTOS!!!

Pros: The breakfast was very good..
Cons: Photographs that don't lie. Updated door hardware, heating system, electrical system (it's overloaded-lights dim when coffee maker switches on).
Location: Location: challenging. Lots of homeless, panhandlers (approached while unloading for checkin), drunks, etc. Dozens of bars within walking distance.
Let me begin on a positive note. The people are helpful, and the breakfast is very good. The rest is pretty much a disaster. The photos on the Travelocity website depict nice rooms in good condition. We stayed in room 3 on the first floor. The steam heating was so noisy that sleep was impossible until it switched off. The bedspreads were dirty (although the sheets were clean), and the initial reaction to stepping into the room was shock and disbelief: IT WAS NOTHING LIKE THE PHOTOGRAPHS, maybe a step or two above dismal. We considered leaving, but since it was getting late, we stayed the night. I went to the front door to see if it was safe on the street. I decided not to go out because of the middle-aged American Indian who had fallen asleep on the front steps. The area is thick with homeless and panhandlers, and as I was loading the car to depart in the morning, a young, poorly dressed man passed by with a can of beer in his hand, apparently drunk, talking loudly to no one in particular, but carrying on an animated conversation. I didn't feel safe at any time on the street, night or day. It's a rough, seedy part of town. The structure is badly in need of repair, from disintegrating grout in the bathroom to overloaded electrical circuits to the 100+ year old boiler and the noisy heating system to the dilapidated furniture and mattresses. They couldn't possibly pass a safety or health inspection. Avoid this property if you expect anything beyond a flophouse.

Comfy hotel near the heart of downtown Denver

Pros: Quant room, clean, comfortable stay
Location: not far from Voodoo donuts and a bunch of good restaurants. Also not far from the heart of downtown Denver.
My boyfriend and I truly enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Chalet. It was a nice alternative to one of the expensive hotels downtown Denver. The room we stayed in was very spacious with even a little kitchen area. It was clean and comfortable, and the staff was very nice, with a yummy complimentary to order breakfast. The hotel is close to downtown, just a quick uber/cab away, but there are plenty of restaurants on Colfax to enjoy. Do not be deterred by the extra activity of people that hang on Colfax avenue. Highly recommend.
