Our room was quite impressive - completely gutted and redone with modern furniture and decorations. The staff was nice and very helpful with recommendations when we had questions about Escanaba.

Nice hotel.

Pros: Location, price, convenience, clean
Cons: It is great for what it is. A simple basic motel.
Location: Try Hereford & Hops for dinner. It's just up the road in "Downtown" Escanaba. They brew their own beer and have quite a menu!
This is the second time we have stayed at the Hiawatha while traveling from Minnesota to the Lower Peninsula. It's a nice family-owned business. Staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms, though old, are kept clean.

Has old fashioned metal keys. No desk was a minus.

VERY NICE HOTEL. ON THE OLDER SIDE BUT VERY CLEAN

Pros: HOW CLEAN IT IS, THE STAFF, THE LOCATION, AND THE AFFORDABILITY!
Cons: COULD BE UPDATED A BIT. BUT THEY ARE IN THE PROCESS OF DOING JUST THAT~!!
Location: NUMEROUS STORE AND RESTAURANTS. CLOSE TO DOWNTOWN.
LOVE THE HOTEL AND THE OWNERS. IT IS AN OLDER HOTEL THAT IS IN GREAT CONDITION. ONE OF THE CLEANEST ROOMS I HAVE EVER STAYED IN. GREAT LOCATION. FREE BREAKFAST! VERY REASONABLE RATES. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR POSH THIS IS NOT FOR YOU, IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR QUALITY, SERVICE, AND LOCATION, THIS IS IT!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT.

Very convenient Location

Pros: It was a small independent and locally owned.
Location: We enjoyed the small downtown shops and the waterfront area including the air fair that was
It was a great location and easy to get to the places on our agenda. The service at check-in was excellent and we were given tips on the area for things to see and do and directions on how to get places. Accommodations were clean and comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised with the offerings for the continental breakfast. We would stay again if in the area.

Don't let the exterior fool you

Pros: The rooms have windows in both front and back, so you get great air flow without using the AC. Plenty of space in the room and a very comfy tub.
Cons: The windows are double paned and they are dirty between the panes, so visibility is hindered.
Location: It's only about a mile to the park at the edge of Lake Michigan and convenient to lots of eating places. We recommend Hudson's for a great burger.
We made our reservations online and were a bit concerned when we pulled into the parking lot, but this turned out to be a really nice place to stay. The owners are very helpful and love to share information about their area. The breakfast is continental, but with really good doughnuts!
