I asked and paid for a King size bed and a nicer room. I got ripped of entirely with a queen bed and the smallest room I have ever stayed in. There was a wedding and it was extremely noisy and the only accommodation the hotel was willing to give was a bottle of wine. When I said we don’t drink they said sorry there’s nothing we can do….unbelievable.

It’s downtown Kitchener. Nice place despite its location. Not much of diverse food to choose from in the area- mostly just Indian.

I stayed here for the first time last night and although the hotel is beautiful, my room was freezing and the thermostat didn't work. I called the front desk and they said the thermostat is controlled by them and they turned the heat up but it was still cold. They ended up bringing a portable heater which helped. I've never stayed at a hotel where the thermostat was controlled by the front desk.

This is a wonderful historic hotel that has been beautifully modernized. Our room was spacious with inspired decor. The staff was exceptionally kind, friendly and knowledgeable. We loved our stay at the Walper. The breakfast is no longer free, but it's very good. As was dinner at the hotel's TWH. Pricey, but what restaurant isn't these days?

Very pleasant staff. Clean & quiet room, aside from the noisy ventilation fan right outside our window with adjoining stadium arc lights. Hot water to shower took a full 5 minutes to reach useful temperature. While the location is convenient, the down side of any urban core these days is the street inhabitants. It’s a definite social issue everywhere but does detract from a safe feeling after hours…won’t rebook here because of this.
