Clean modern room the reception staff are exceptional the two ladies who checked us in and the lovely friendly man on the desk who checked us out all so pleasant and always gave us a greeting
They always say it’s about location. Well that is so true for hard days night hotel. You are in the hub of every thing. Walkable to all sites, shoppers, restaurants and pubs. Staff wonderful. Rooms clean and fresh. A very fun bar to enjoy. Loved our stay, we will be back .

Disliked: Staff & service, room comfort
One staff during check in time, big queue and taking a while to get people checked in making the area very busy and loud when it is a small area anyway. No space to save bags. Rooms very noisy, tram running underground very loud rumbling all night and morning until they stopped. Lots of noise in the room as it faced The Cavern Quarter and we could hear the singers word for word in the pub down the road. Pillows no comfy. Rooms and corridors very dark and quite old fashioned. The heating did not work, the room was like an ice box all night it was horrible, we were shivering all night.
The food presentation was substandard eggs were like rubber balls. Scrambled eggs were lumpy they should be creamy and cooked slowly
The room was cold we asked for it to be refreshed and it wasn't. Reception staff were friendly and tried to help but the hotel itself had atmosphere

Hotel room had no heating, absolutely freezing! Spoke to reception in the morning was told there was a problem with the room!! so they already new about it!!
I remember coming here 10 years ago and loving it. This time it just felt run down and basic. Spacious room but the large sliding glass window was covered in hand and finger prints. Staff acted like we were a big inconvenience checking in, no help getting bags, no greeting (I.e. have you been to Liverpool before?) or local recommendations.

Disliked: Amenities
The room was to noisy, the windows offered no protection from the busy road outside, this morning we were woken at 4am by a dustcart was collecting commercial waste from the shops and it made a right racket, the wash hand basin in our room didn’t have a plug, the breakfast offering is as poor as I’ve ever seen matched by the attitude of one of your leading staff members who when asked at 10.15am on Sunday if there was anymore beans said “ no the buffet closes in 15 minutes once it’s gone it’s gone “ You had a male member of staff on duty who went and got more beans, he was very helpful to several guests, sorry for the negative feedback but it’s my honest opinion
The place looks absolutely superb. The character of the building, the thematic attention to detail and the lighting are all really special. We were offered a free upgrade to a suite - with a grand piano in the living room! Really special. I did occasionally feel it was a bit “style over substance” - the quality of things like the breakfast, the coffee and the bed’s comfort didn’t quite match the impressive cosmetics. The TV and room lighting was more complicated than necessary. A few little tweaks here and there would make this a mega stay.

Loud music from a local bar ran through until 2:15 am and the inadequate should proofing of the windows meant we heard it all. 3 hours later the glass and rubbish collection was equally clear and loud.
“Table service” at the on-site bar meant sitting and waiting at our table for 5 minutes, before approaching the idle staff for a drink.
So a bit meh.
