Older Arizona Couple Staying Overnight

Just stayed overnight on our way up north. The person at the front next desk was very helpful and delightful. She gave us excellent suggestions what to do today while driving along Lake Michigan.

I made a reservation and paid through Expedia, but when I arrived, the front desk clerk demanded that I leave a $100 cash deposit. This isn’t mentioned anywhere in the booking. My wife had $80 on her, which they accepted. When we checked out, they insisted on inspecting the room before returning it. They did indeed return the money, but I felt like I was being treated like a criminal upon walking in the door and I don’t think the property should be allowed to remain on Expedia without disclosing this policy. I’ve never felt so unwelcomed at a hotel. Absolutely terrible policy and awful customer service. I will never return under any circumstances. There are plenty of other hotels in town.
