First off, the name of the hotel changed to Grand Mackinaw. No signs were posted about the change and we were not contacted. It lead to some confusion when we were trying to find it. Second, the office to our hotel was closed and we had to go to the next hotel over to check in. Our room was dated, had a weird layout and smelled musty, but that I could overlook as it was clean. The biggest complaint is that was water park was closed and we were not notified. The building was open, but it was under construction. There was debris everywhere, shovels, construction equipment etc. When I went back to the other hotel to complain they said we had access to two other waterparks in the area and they had no clue that one was closed. How is that even possible? The whole point we booked at this hotel was the onsite waterpark. We also booked with breakfast being provided but again, they didn’t have that. We got coupons to some local places but that was still like another $75 that we had not anticipated. One water park at the Crown was okay, the other one at Bridge Vista was half shut down…the big slides weren’t open and one day none of the sprinklers and lazy river were turned on. We made the best of it, but we are highly disappointed. Then to top it all off I am guessing a manager yelled at us because my son hopped on a toy car that was by the hotel. He was on it all of ten seconds and we were packing up to leave. That was just the last straw. There is no way I will ever be back.

Checked in next door. Gave us room 101....clearly a place folks live weekly or monthly. Made them tranfer us to a room next door

Couldn’t even check in at the hotel you had to go two hotels down to check in, not clean and gross bagged laundry in the parking lot. Not clean and no upkeep. No breakfast.

There was no microwave OR sofa in the room as advertised. The waterpark for the kids was closed. The property looked like it hadnt been maintained or updated in thirty years or possibly more.

Very unfortunate that this place has gone so downhill! Ripped screen door, broken dead bolt and general in poor repair. Won’t stay there again!

Worst hotel ever!! Called and made sure hot tub, pool and water park was up and running 2 days before we left and they said yes. Well only the pool was. Had to go to another hotel for water park and hot tub (if I'd known the truth when I called we'd never stayed there). Breakfast is only a granola bar, fruit cup and juice #2 Room was awful. Two lamps didn't work, 3 bulbs out of 4 in bathroom didn't work. Phone and WiFi didn't work. Called and told them and walked there and spoke to them never got fixed. #3 Requested Maid service never got it. We had a beachfront room with 2 kids. Got sand on floors and sheet of bed never cleaned it and Never refilled towels as requested. Front desk blamed it on Covid protocol but those are over and not to mention they never mentioned that till I complained about it. # 4 Beach was awful!! #5 sent us to Bridge Vista to use Hot tub and water park. Toddler pool with slides was dirty and hot tub jets didn't work. #6 Rude front desk associates. Couldn't use mirror blocked my fridge. Only 1 outlet available to use to charge phones.

The Fairview has no waterpark. According to the name of the hotel I was expecting a waterpark for my kids. Not open. The pool had some used bandaids lying around the area. Filthy. Front desk staff felt inconvenienced when helping you.

Choose this hotel despite its lower rating since it was only for 1 night, on a holiday, in our desired location. I will say the bedding was clean but that is about the only positive I can come up with. The lobby was closed, had to go to the hotel next door to check in. Water park (tickets included in room price) was not functioning. We were told there were 2 other hotels where we could use the water park, Both much further down the road. We chose this hotel specifically (and paid more) for the onsite water park. For a 1 day visit we didn't want to go to another hotel. At least 10 bags of garbage piled next to the hotel entrance to get to our room. Had been there for a while with stuff seeping out of the bags on a 90 degree day. It was finally removed that evening but not a good impression. Stairway handrail broken in half and trash on the ground around every trash can in the stairwell. Trash bags were replaced but chicken bones and other trash remained on the floor for our entire stay. The room itself was ok and clean enough but there was dust, cobwebs and dead bugs on the ceiling. Twice we had cleaning staff come into our room uninvited without announcing themselves. The beach around the hotel was littered with cigarettes, trash,and broken beach chairs which had obviously been there for quite some time. I was not expecting much with a lower rating but at $320 for the night I expect at least a relatively clean, not broken down hotel.

We reserved a king room, they gave us a double queen. Room was very "unkept", carpet was still damp from cleaning, wifi didn't work, very limited outlets for chargers, room phone didn't work, balcony chairs were filthy, had to walk to the hotel next door to check in, file concerns and complaints. Decided to leave even knowing we would have to pay for that night. Needless to say we will never stay there again or any of the other hotel chain.....
