All of the above . Sense of graciousness. Warm welcome at reception. In our room, lovely sheets , comfortable bed . Well appointed bathroom , but problem with bathtub drain, which we noted to the cleaner on our leaving. Delicious breakfast in the morning . Dining room festive and inviting, with all tables covered in white tablecloths and bright red linen napkins at each place. Elaborately decorated for the Christmas season. Generally there was too much stuff ! Antique dolls , stuffed animals, cloth curtains, etc.All attracting dust. We shall return - maybe after spring clearing .

Charming hotel steeped in history. Was up from FL for a friend getting ordained and decided to take my boy to Sackville so he could see where his grandmother was from. Always heard of the Marshland from my mom for its food back in the day, and as the 'Queen' had been there, apparently as princess and again much later as queen. Quiet, as was in November. Rooms as described in pictures; well maintained and oozing in history. Beds were comfy and warm which was nice as it was 27f outside. Excellent breakfast in the dinning room and great value, especially with the ambiance. Walkable to Mount A University. Great staff, very attentive. Would defiantly stay again.

My last day of my vacation trip ended at your amazing place! I just loved the sitting area at the entrance where you could just relaxe, have a drink, chat and enjoy the fresh air!! Loved the garden in the back also. My room was upstairs in the “Garage building”in the back of the Inn. Very beautiful, clean and had a homey feeling! Thank you! It made my last stay of my vacation one I will always remember ❤️

Very Disappointing
Shame on Hotels for advertising this as 11.67 miles from Hopewell Rocks. It takes over an hour to get there. Aside from that, the Inn was obviously beautiful in its day but Room 5 in the Carriage House was unclean, unpleasant and dangerous with cords trailing into the room. There is a wooden tray under the bathroom mirror that has toothpaste and other stains, a rusted heater near the tub where water pools, chipping plaster on the bathroom ceiling, loose wooden flooring at the entrance to the bathroom and dust webs hanging inside the valances over the bed. If we had more time, I would have asked for a room change. I saw no pool so would question that. The gardens, like the Inn, must have been nice in their day. When we asked if dinner was served, the owner stated, not tonight, maybe tomorrow. There is no breakfast served. Although I'm sure he's a nice person, the owner made a comment to us about feeling like the inn is running them. The whole experience made me feel very sad. There is not 24 hour desk coverage. You must ring a bell and wait. After reading other reviews about waiting, I left the key on the desk on the way out and hoped for the best. Perhaps staying in the main house is better. I should have brought these items to the owner's attention but the owner also should not place people in a room in this condition. I was tempted to not review this at all but I don't want others to be disappointed. Next time, I'll pay more attention to the reviews.

Pros: Location. Large clawfoot tub. Cons: Bed was very uncomfortable. Cleanliness of bed covers and carpets was poor. Bathroom smelt strongly of urine. Outside of building is crumbling.
