The reviews for this hotel seem to be describing a different place to the one in which I stayed. The room I was given was so worn and scruffy, it looked worse than the nearby youth hostel. The next room along had a balcony, which stretched over my window so anyone there could look straight into my room, onto my bed (the room was so tiny, that’s all they could look at). There was a significant damp patch too. The reception staff were friendly so this is no complaint against them but they didn’t seem to know what damp was, even when they saw it. They did change my room straight away but whilst there was no damp in the second room, it was, again, nothing like the photos: worn, tired and scruffy, and distinctly un-alpine. Additionally, both reception staff didn’t just show me my room number but announced it to everyone in the foyer - twice. Again, the staff weren’t unfriendly but that’s a basic security error. If you are a solo traveller or particularly, a solo female traveller, I would recommend considering other hotels.

This property is in a great location right next to the Central station. It is 10-15 min walk from the main centre with all the sights and shops. The decor is fun, themed throughout the hotel and the bathroom cable car is great. The staff spoke many languages - all perfectly and were super helpful. The family room was spacious and comfortable and we would definitely stay here again.

Charming, welcoming, and comfortable

We opted to stay in a larger room at this hotel since our trip was more than a couple nights and most of the rooms are smaller. We absolutely adored the room and the hotel itself. The details are so charming and the spaces (public and private) are very comfortable. Staff were usually readily available and were always helpful and pleasant. Even if we had booked a smaller room, the common spaces at the hotel are lovely, welcoming, and comfortable. With plenty of seating indoors, games and books for adults and kids, and a charming beer garden, you can easily relax and enjoy time in the public spaces of this hotel. Overall, we adored the Cocoon and would absolutely return!

Perfect location, comfortable room

Excellent stay! Staff were very welcoming and friendly. The hotel has a cute alpine/ski lodge motif, very well done. Great photo spaces! The rooms likewise were very nicely decorated. We had a large room that was very comfortable for a family of 4. Loft area separated the two queen beds and there were 2 full bathrooms. We were able to spread out and relax. We had the hotel breakfast - it was wonderful! Good variety of hot and cold items. Well worth the cost as we did not need lunch after eating there. Also, location was great, very close to train station, easy to get around town by metro or on foot. Lots of restaurant options. Totally recommend staying here. We will be back!

The room was basic and small. No coffee station, not able to heat water to make own drinks and the machine downstairs we need to buy coffee during reception hours. Not having 24 hr reception is inconvenient. Also single staff on reception in evening had to multi task as their role was also bar tender, cleaner and room services person. Breakfast was good. Receptionist was amazing.

Love the decor, and the breakfast buffet was spectacular! Very clean room and comfortable bed. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our only issue was that we could not cast movies onto the tv from our phone and there was no option for English tv channels, So if you’re an English-speaking visitor who likes to relax before bed with tv entertainment, that won’t be possible here. The staff said they used to have Comcast, but people stole the dongles (I don’t blame them for not replacing them!). Otherwise, it was a great stay!

During the day, the area was perfect. It was very convenient to the train station. However, at night the area was questionable. Also, to leave luggage after checking out- it sits unattended in lobby, on an honor system. Overall, a great stay. Hotel was very clean, breakfast was amazing and staff was very helpful and attentive
