The hotel was clean and the staff friendly. This is a no frills hotel although they do have coffee in the room. It’s very convenient to Camp Pendleton with plenty of restaurants. I would stay there again

HORRIBLE. Don’t even bother if you have a service animal. They WILL find a way to try to charge you the pet fee and if you refuse, as is your right legally, they will cancel your reservation. I was asked upon checking in if there were any animals with me (which means they didn’t know, nor was there a fee on my reservation to begin with) and when I confirmed I had a service animal, there was strange behavior from the front desk. (Calling and texting someone.) She then told me she was trying to get the pet fee removed for me. After a few more texts and a strange call, the front desk phone rang and I was handed the phone — also strange. A woman who called herself Rosemary, told me that she wasn’t near a computer right at the moment and couldn’t remove the pet fee so I would have to pay it and then wait for a refund. As I spoke to her, I read from their lobby check-in policy slip and told her I had the proper check in amount ($200) and only ESA animals weren’t excluded from the fee, so there shouldn’t even be a service fee for me. Furthermore, that fee must have been added since I’d arrived (since I had to tell them about my service dog), so surely someone had the power to remove it as well. At that point the entire conversation turned aggressive on their end and “Rosemary” told me if I didn’t pay the fee she would cancel my reservation AND she “saw my license and I shouldn’t have a driver’s license if I have a service dog, I should have only an ID.” Stay somewhere else.

The hotel was very clean and appeared to be newly renovated. The rooms are spacious and we were surprised to have a microwave, refrigerator and bar sink in our room. The location is great for walking to the harbor or pier, if you don’t mind walking. The only thing that was a bit alarming was a few lots down was a boarded up hotel. This has attracted homeless folks that hang out in the area. But other than that it was a good place to stay and the price was great for a few nights stay near the beach.
