The hotel was comfortable. The bedroom and bathroom were excellent. Unfortunately the restaurant was out of action for some reason on both nights. This meant a 20 minute walk to get food. Not much fun for an 84 year old with bad knees. This spoiled what would otherwise have been a pleasant and comfortable stay.

The reception are kind and nice. The room condition is moderate. The only thing I am still in trouble is that they dont give me a digital receipt. I have asked for it twice using the chat system but never reply me back. I hope they see this and would take a needed action accordingly.

Terrific hotel

This was a lovely stay. The concierge was amazing in helping us, the room was clean and comfortable with … AIR CONDITIONING (lol). Breakfast was an amazing buffet. Very conveniently located. Would 100% stay here again.

The Mecure Eastgate has the curb appeal, a beautiful builing in a beautiful area. The hitel itself is modern and clean. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and modern, however the tv did not work, one lamp did not work and the other was linked the the main room light. There was also no tea in the drink making facility. Dining as a person with coeliac disease was a problem. Despite emailing to check they could accommodate Gluten Free. On arrival at the prebooked & paid for diner I was told they only had 1 starter and 1 main that could be GF, and they had run out of the main meal. The manager came and offered a complementary drink, however that was expected to replace the main meal! We walked up the road to The Ivy instead and had a wonderful meal. Front desk were very apologetic and refunded the main meal and credited the breakfast too as a gesture of goodwill.

Great location, awful hotel

The only good thing about this hotel is its location. We had a top floor room, good check-in (but £30 a night for parking!) . Room had cobwebs, half painted, door to bathroom needs looking at and shower control coming off the wall - should not be available until finished. We had breakfast included but didn’t go the second day. Staff dismissive, slow, unfriendly and clearly didn’t want to be there. Food very cold, no proper coffee for a 4 star. would also question the security. We could get in via 2 doors (one nowhere near the reception so anyone could walk into hotel.) If I was a single traveler this would really concern me. Overall a very disappointing stay.

Almost there, but room for improvement

Hotel was well located. Rooms wee clean but not very clean as a few marks in bathroom. Could hear the next rooms TV and could hear every move from the room above us. Lots of choice at breakfast, although quality of food not the best. Staff were friendly and helpful. Overall a nice stay, but not amazing.

A bit of a walk from city centre. The size of the room is decent and very clean. However, there is smell coming from the bathroom when coming in. It was very clean though. Luckily we can open the windows, doesn’t feel claustrophobic. A bit of a noise from the road and buses, but it was nice looking outside rather than having a window looking at a wall of the next building. I had a good sleep. A big tv and a portable fan/heater provided.
