The location is great but the condo needs some TLC!!! It was not as clean as expected (for the price). Floors were dirty, sheets left on the bed in the bunk room. I expected the sheets to be on the bed. Not even sure that room was cleaned.
The mattresses are awful on all the beds. The queen/full bed had a dip in the middle of it. The primary bedroom was hard as a rock.
Could not use the ceiling fan. Made a horrible noise. Maybe add ceiling fans to the other two bedrooms to keep it cool.
It needs all new blinds in every bedroom.
The kitchen only had one dish towel.
The parking is terrible. The complex/owners need to address that. Drove around for 30 minutes looking for a spot.
For the amount of money I would expect more.
We thoroughly enjoyed the location of this condo. However, we arrived late Thursday night and discovered we didn't have any hot water Friday. The rental company was responsive but unable to have a plumber out to the unit until Saturday afternoon. We have two young children who are not able to take ice cold showers. After two nights and a half day without hot water things were finally fixed. We received minimal compensation for our inconvenience. Also we had internet issues and every bed was extremely charged with static electricity. We love this location but will not be Renting this unit again nor any other unit from Southern Vacation Rentals.
WONDERFUL location, great accommodations, awesome community
For the price, I found the unit a great deal. The kids loved the bunks and the master suite was very comfortable. The condo was furnished well and outfitted with adequate extras for cooking and living in the space for as long as we wanted.
The neighborhood was a big hit with the kids, as were the nearby bike rentals. The beach was accessible, the tram service very helpful in this regard. It allowed us to haul coolers, chairs and whatever we wanted without carrying them ourselves.
Even though we didnât run into anything major, property management was quick to help with any issues. We would definitely stay here again.
The property is very clean and in a good location, with lots of restaurants and shopping directly below. It's very close to Rosemary Beach which gives you more options to eat and shop. If you have sensitive sleepers this might not be the location for you as it is quite noisy until the wee hours of the morning. The kitchen is very sparsely equipped, as indicated in the listing, which is something to be aware of if you plan on doing much cooking. Overall, we enjoyed our time there.
If you have bikes, make sure to lock them up at night, even though many people do night. Our bike was taken, although we were able to find it elsewhere in seacrest and get it back the next day.
While in the car, on our way to the property, I received a phone call stating the air conditioning unit was broken. I was given a choice of receiving a 30% refund and staying there without air conditioning, or moving to another property that was not in the same area and from the online pictures, looked very much outdated and less desirable. We chose the 30% discount and stayed in the original location.
We got by OK with the temperature in the condo, it did get warm at times and slightly uncomfortable. But we were out and about most of the day. So we managed ok - not ideal - but ok with a 30% discount coming.
The condo itself isn't great - the screen door was hard to open and didn't shut all the way. None of the windows had screens on them so bugs would get in. The fixtures in the bathrooms are outdated and some of the finishing touches need TLC.
But here's where my main frustration comes in. When following up with the refund after my stay the customer service was awful. I was originally told that my refund would be 30% of the stay minus the cleaning fee (which is nonrefundable and makes sense).
When I received the refund it was short. It was less than 30% based on what I was told I'd be receiving. I then had to spend days going back and forth with customer service and have them give me different amounts that they say I paid in rent, fees, etc. When I gave them the amounts that I was actually billed, they dug their heels in and changed the story on what I was promised in a refund. At one point they told me I was only promised a refund on rent, one time they told me I was promised a refund on rent and a service fee, etc. Each time it was different, but every time I was told it's my problem, I'm wrong, my documentation isn't valid (I have every single text message we've made) and that's that.
I will never stay with Southern Vacation Rentals again and neither will any of my friends. Their customer service is horrible.
We enjoyed our stay in this beautiful property. Great proximity to beach and walking distance to shops and restaurants. A little tricky to find the building in the dark.
