Stunning view of Glacier National Park, fully equipped off grid lodge & 65 acres

COZY REMOTE CABIN , GLACIER NATIONAL PARK MOUNTAIN VIEWS, LOVED BY 3 GENERATION FAMILIES, FLEXIBLE ACCOMODATION, OBSERVATORY, yet only 2.5 miles from the North Fork Park Entrance and 35 mins to Apgar and the Going to the Sun Road. Walk, bike or drive to the Polebridge Mercantile (bakery, pizza and rentals) and Saloon (often with live music). Explore the lightly used Flathead forest trails, hike to Look Out Towers or fish, swim or float the Flathead River and ponds and lakes. Great for ebikes.
The cabin is cozy with a large wood stove and propane heat. The kitchen has everything you need except a dishwasher and the table seats 14, There is a full bathroom on each floor with one downstairs bedroom and a master bedroom and a walk thru bedroom upstairs. Porches with ample seating on both floors. There is an additional guest sleeping cabin with no bathroom about 30 yards from the main cabin. It has a European wood stove, and great views to the mountains. There is a newly added Kiddies secret hangout great for kids up to about 5 years old. There is a huge fire pit outside, observatory and historic homestead log cabin on site. There is plenty of hiking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing from the property. In the summer ask us about 2 additional glamping tents close to the property (each sleeps 2 to 3). They can be found under glamping tent 1 and 2 in Polebridge . A wonderful spot for a retreat or large multi generational family gatherings. New for 2024 if there is a demand will be the addition of a large Canvas wall tent sleeping 2 to 4 with use of outhouse There will be additional $150/stay charge for the use of this beautiful 12 x 14 wall tent which will be have comfy memory foam beds and luxury bedding. Please inquire. The cabin is approximately 36 miles from Columbia Falls much of which is unpaved. The cabin is accessed by a 0.5 mile gravel road and is remote. The Polebridge entrance to the Park is approx 2.5 miles away, the visitor center at Apgar is a gorgeous 35 minute drive. It is wonderful to retreat to the quiet of the cabin after a busy day in the Park or Forest. Plenty of Parking, 4 wd recommended. The road from Columbia Falls will be snow covered in winter and possibly dusty and bumpy in summer but go slow as the views are tremendous as you follow the North Fork River flanking the mountains of the Park. We have a number of trails on the property and highly recommend hiking to the look out with your evening cocktails. There is a screened in Gazebo with large dining table for family/friend gatherings. Inflatable SUP and kayaks, spinning rods available for use at own risk please ask. Dart board in the old log cabin and other lawn games. The observatory is locked and off limits to guests however Jim loves to show you how it works and the stars. Just ask . It contains 2 telescopes and a solar scope and is perfect for the Montana dark skies. The cabin is remote with no neighbours, the skies are dark with no artificial lights to be seen. The cabin is solar powered with a back up generator. Internet and wifi calling is good so this makes for a great working retreat.
No Glacier National Park vehicle Reservation needed to stay here. We can help you with ways to access the Park, and visiting the surrounding 2 million acre Flathead Forest. Guests are welcome to explore the property, we have trails over 200 acres our favorite is a short hike to the "lookout" for evening drinks and sunsets!
The cabin is stocked with essentials, Columbia Falls is the last stop for food, gas and cell service so stock up before you drive up. We share the beautiful landscape with many animals including deer, moose, elk wolves, mountain lion and black and grizzly bears. We are therefore very careful about food storage, use of barbques etc and hike with bear spray in summer (provided)
Although the Park has a Vehicle reservation system in place for 2024 (details below) there is plenty of things to do outside of the Park, e.g hiking the lightly used trials (dogs allowed) in the Flathead National Forest, exploring the Lookout Towers, fishing lakes and rivers and floating the Flathead River, or take a day trip to Whitefish.

I have tried to simplify below the information for Park access in 2024 but I cannot include phone numbers/website due to vrbo policies.

In 2024, a vehicle reservation is required for three areas of the park from 6am-3pm:
1. ****Going-to-the-Sun Road West Entrance (May 24 - Sept 8) (35 minutes away)
2.North Fork (May 24 - Sept 8) (10 minutes away)
3. Many Glacier (July 1 - Sept 8)( approx 3 hours away)
Each location has unique details and requires a separate reservation.
****No vehicle reservation required if you book a boat ride on Saint Mary Lake on the Going to the Sun Road or Park your vehicle at Apgar Village and take the free shuttle

No vehicle reservation will required to enter the following areas of the park:
1. Two Medicine Valley
2. Apgar Village Area/Camas Road
3. Going-to-the-Sun Road from the east entrance
4. Any entrance station before 6am or after 3pm

When and How To Book:
A portion of reservations will be available 120 days or approximately four months advance, starting on Jan. 25, 2024, at 8 a.m. MST on a rolling basis.
New in 2024, the remaining vehicle reservations will be available at 7 p.m. MDT for next-day entry starting on May 23, 2024.
All reservations must be booked ahead as they are not available for purchase at the park. The only cost associated with booking a reservation is a $2 processing fee.

West Entrance of Going-to-the-Sun Road (GTSR)
One reservation per vehicle will be required to travel Going-to-the-Sun Road beyond the Apgar Village area from May 24 through Sept. 8, 2024, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Visitors can enter before 6 a.m. or after 3 p.m. without a vehicle reservation.
New in 2024, vehicle reservations will be valid for one day only, down from three days in 2023. Also new in 2024, visitors will be able to access Apgar Village amenities, including the Apgar Visitor Center, without a vehicle reservation. Lodging, camping (including front country developed campgrounds and backcountry camping permits), transportation, or commercial activity reservations originating in Apgar will no longer provide access beyond the Apgar filter check point.
Visitors with lodging, camping, transportation, or commercial activity reservations within the GTSR corridor can use their service reservation receipt for entry in lieu of the $2 vehicle reservation. This included reservation only applies to the date of your service reservation.

North Fork Area
The North Fork Vehicle Reservation Area is in the northwest corner of the park and includes all points east of the Polebridge Entrance Station.
One reservation per vehicle will be required at the entrance station May 24 through Sept. 8, 2024, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Reservations are good for one day.
Visitors can enter before 6 a.m. or after 3 p.m. without a vehicle reservation.
The North Fork area does not offer lodging, transportation, or commercial services, and camping is first-come, first-served. Campsites will be assigned at the Polebridge Entrance Station.

Many Glacier
One reservation per vehicle will be required at the entrance station July 1 through Sept. 8, 2024, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Reservations are good for one day.
Visitors can enter the valley before 6 a.m. or after 3 p.m. without a vehicle reservation. .
Visitors with lodging, camping, transportation, or commercial activity reservations in the Many Glacier Valley can use their service reservation receipt for entry in lieu of the $2 vehicle reservation. This included reservation only applies to the date and area of your service reservation.

General Info:
The West Entrance, North Fork, and Many Glacier vehicle reservations will be separate and are not interchangeable.
Like in past years, visitors will need to set up an account on the National Park reservation web site to obtain vehicle reservations. Although the park does not charge for the vehicle reservations there is a $2 nonrefundable service fee.
Visitors may also make a reservation through the call center. Contacting the call center does not provide an advantage towards securing a reservation but provides an alternative for those who don’t have access to the internet or are not as familiar with technology. Call centers are open every day from 8 am to 10 pm MST and the reservation fee remains at $2
All park visitors are still required to have a park pass for any entry point into the park. These passes could include any one of the following: $35 Glacier National Park pass purchased at the gate or online (valid for seven days); Glacier National Park Annual Pass, or America the Beautiful Interagency Pass, including the annual, senior, military, access, volunteer, or 4th grade passes.
Like previous years, visitors with lodging, camping, transportation, or commercial activity reservations within the specified reservation areas can use proof of their reservation for entry in lieu of a vehicle reservation to gain access to the portion of the park for which they have a reservation.
Additional details about the vehicle reservation system, trail and road conditions can be found on the Glacier National website.
In winter it may not be easily accessible due to road conditions on the North Fork. We do snow blow the driveway and parking area. Roads in the Park are mostly closed to vehicles in winter allowing excellent hiking, xc skiing and snowshoeing opportunities. Polebridge is closed in winter so bring everything you need from Columbia Falls.
