We have all heard about the white sand beaches of Cape San Blas, but have you ever thought about visiting the other side of the Peninsula? The Gulf of Mexico is on the beachside of Cape San Blas, but nature’s playground awaits on the other side in St. Joseph Bay. Come stay in Hideaway Bay, a 2 bedroom single family house that sits overlooking the bay. Bring your kayak or your paddleboard and access the water easily at the end of the private boardwalk. Natural vegetation surrounds this home creating a buffer that makes for a perfect retreat from the everyday grind. Once inside this home, it is situated all on one level, a rare find these days. Take a break on the bayfront deck and relax under the ceiling fans while reading a good book.

This is an ideal spot for anytime of the year. It’s also a great spot for week long stays in the summer to go scalloping or spend your winters here. You can cozy up to the electric fireplace. Make plans now to visit the “wilder” side of the Cape and immerse yourself in nature.

BE AWARE - Unattended damage and no response from management @ Pristine Properties Vacation Rentals

This was so very disappointing! We stayed at this property back in May and had an incredible time with family. The main reason we chose this property is the dock that leads to the bay, since we love to kayak. This feature is also pointed out in the listing. For our return visit two weeks ago with friends, we received a phone message from the management company - Pristine Properties Vacation Rentals - two hours before our arrival that the dock is blocked off due to damage to the steps at the dock. Again, the dock is the main reason we chose this property. We drove over 7 hours with friends who also brought all their gear, and the dock was blocked due to damage from a storm 3 weeks earlier. It was so disappointing, and the management team and had plenty of time not only to attend to the repairs (the steps could have been easily repaired in an hour—mainly because they needed to be secured to the dock) but also should have contacted us many days before we drove all the way. I also called and used the text options multiple times and was promised three separate times that Suzanne on the management team would call me back and address our disappointment, but I never got such a call. We have been coming to the Cape since 1984 and have never had such a disappointing experience and bad communication from a management company.

We had a great trip and loved Summerbay. It is located very close to shops and still feels very private. The dock is a wonderful spot to watch the sunrise, fish, or kayak from. It is a short walk across the street to the beach. We would stay here again!!!!

Beautiful view

We enjoyed our stay. The soaps and dish washing detergent were a very cheap quality. I would recommend washing all the cooking utensils and pots before using. Some of the bowls were not clean. There is no dishwasher so bring paper goods and cups. It would be nice to have a coffee maker that uses pods. The porch could be much more enjoyable with a nice cup of coffee.

26th Anniversary

We didn't know what to expect, and were pleasantly surprised it was exactly as the ad described - and more! The sunrise/sunset's were absolutely amazing...and the horseback ride at sunset on the beach will NEVER be forgotten! Highly recommend the SummerBay!

We had a great time at Summer bay. It was clean and everything worked well. Communication was great with the rental company. It’s such a lovely house, perfect for a small family. Great area on the bay too and hope to stay again one day.

Old Cape San Blas

This older bayside property a good example of why we have been visiting this area for over 30 years. Not many properties are so sheltered from other houses and the noisy main road. The house is in pretty good shape, but could be cleaner. Bugs in window sills and dirt on baseboards. A boil water order was put in place shortly after we arrived but the property management company did not reach out to us. We heard about it from other renters. Great place to watch a wild lightning show!

Nice 30th Anniversary Getaway

We are an active couple with a small poodle who returned to Cape San Blas this year to celebrate our 30th anniversary. We greatly enjoyed our stay at Summerbay. The location, weather and amenities were perfect for us to enjoy all of the things we had planned, such as hiking, kayaking, windsurfing and walking the beach. The house had a secluded feel, even though it was close to stores, etc. We stopped at Piggly Wiggly in Port St Joe on our way in, stocked up on food, paper towels, bug spray, etc. so that we could make our own meals, stay put, and enjoy the beautiful nature by foot, bike or paddle...and that's exactly what we did!

Needs some work

We killed 2 to 4 roaches a day. Laundry room light does not work. The inside of the kitchen cabinets need to be cleaned. The bathroom ceiling fan needs to be cleaned. There is a water drip inside the locked closet. Major trimming needs to be done to the trees in the driveway. The limbs scratched our truck just trying to get to the house. visitors need to be able to turn around in the yard with a boat. The View was beautiful and the furniture was comfortable.

Great House and Location + Helpful Tips

This was our first stay at Summerbay as we usually rent a few houses up on the bay. The larger lot with space from neighbors and private dock appealed to us, and delivered on both counts. A couple of things to make the stay better would be to pack a white noise machine as the neighbors have a rooster, and if sunrise isn't your preferred waking time, it will drown out the bird. Also pack compostable dishes etc.. if you don't want to be hand washing dishes. My fault, I missed that there was not a dishwasher in this house, as I'd never rented one on the cape that didn't have one in all our years here. We liked the location, and the home did not seem to suffer during hurricane Michael, or was repaired quickly. We would stay again with better planning on our part.
