The property was nice however there were some things left unclear. We noticed the following once we were in the home. - There was a used bath towel left in the upstairs bathroom - There were stains on the ottoman in the orange headboard room - In the upstairs bathroom, the clear shower curtain had heavy dirt stains. Therefore my family cannot wash up there. - The trash bin in the kitchen is broken. It hangs downward when pulled out - There is a brown stain in the freezer.

I had a wonderful stay! The host was very welcoming and communicated clearly throughout my visit. The space was spacious, clean and the mattresses were incredibly comfortable. I felt right at home and would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend!

Barbara was a wonderful host! Communication was prompt when needed. The house is immaculate and you can tell how much pride she takes in her property. Beds were all extremely comfortable and the furnishings were great. My kids really loved the pool table! Perfect for our trip down to visit the area colleges.

Barb was super helpful and was able to answer all of our questions right away! The house is exactly as the pictures show! With fun peacock surprises in every room, our family enjoyed the decor and amenities. Our favorite was the interactive fridge! Our kids could play with the fridge all day if we let them :). There were plenty of games and activities to keep everyone entertained during our stay. The beds were comfortable and the showers were amazing! Check-in and check-out were a breeze. Just FUI for anyone booking, the house is on a busy street, so you can hear the cars buzzing by at night- but this was easy to sleep through (and ear buds are provided). If we are in the area again, will definitely rebook!

Home base for graduation weekend

Stayed here with our family of 7 for Duke graduation weekend. The house is very new and immaculately clean, with a fun decor scheme. The kids loved the game room, the beds and showers were good, and Barb’s communication was great. Overall it was a great stay, just a few things to be aware of. First, the neighborhood is not the nicest or prettiest part of Durham (this house is a lot nicer than most of its neighbors). We didn’t have any safety issues, though, so as long as you are sensible I think it’s fine. Second, some of the decor choices are more aesthetic than practical - the kitchen island stools and dining chairs, for example, were incredibly uncomfortable. Third, the house is located about 20 feet from what was described as an abandoned rail line, but on our first morning 2 trains went by before 7am. We didn’t notice any trains after that, though, so maybe it was an anomaly. Finally, the house has a few “new construction quirks” that would be an easy fix - for example, the toilet paper holder in the powder room is not secure to the wall, the trash can cabinet doesn’t open quite right, and the microwave doesn’t quite fit in its housing. But as I said, it was a great place to base our family for graduation weekend and we would stay again!

Family wedding weekend

I stayed here with family (ages ranging from 8-60+). The place was exactly as the pictures. The house was extremely clean and well stocked. The beds were SO comfortable and the showers were great. The host was ready at all times for any needs during our day. I would definitely stay here again.

Wedding Weekend

8 of us stayed at the Peacock House for a long weekend while my daughter got married in Durham. The house provided separate common living areas (living room, game room, kitchen, front porch and back seating area), which was great for a group of 8. We loved the decor of the home. My sister said she felt inspired by the home. Barb was receptive and responded quickly with any questions we presented. We would love to stay again!
