Remodeled modern hermits cabin
Surrounded by national forest on three sides, this 40 acre property is so peaceful. Conveniently located in the central hills, access to all of the tourist sites is an easy drive. There are hiking, biking, ATV, and horseback trails on property and surrounding it. From the deck, Black Elk Peak can be seen. Air conditioning, shower, dishwasher, newly remodeled kitchen (with all essentials), king sized bed and a couch that folds out into a full bed are some of the features that this amazing property has to offer. There is also a fire pit that is surrounded by cozy furniture to relax by at night. Every guest who has stayed here has thoroughly enjoyed it.
Spectacular setting, amenities, and centrally located to Mt. Rushmore and Custer State Park, and hiking. WiFi. Excellent cell service (Verizon & ATT). Private campfire and fireplace. Off-season discounts. No extra fees.

The Hermits' Cabin worked very well for us. The interior is cozy and up-to-date. The property is lovely -- up just high enough in the hills to have a true mountain feel and view. We appreciated the outdoor fire pit, complete with split wood and fire starters.Dawn and Chad were very helpful when we had a few questions. I recommend this property to anyone visiting the area.
Great place to stay if you want peace and quiet. Hiking trail on property, surrounded by nature and wildlife. Great location to easily get to Rapid City or attractions. Would definitely stay there again.
We stayed four nights and loved this cabin! Great locationâclose to Rapid City, Spearfish, and Custer State Park, yet very private and peaceful. The cabin was clean, the kitchen had everything we needed, and the bed was super comfortable. We looked forward to seeing the two long-haired cows on the drive in and out every day! Weâd definitely stay here again!
We enjoyed our time at the cabin! Beautiful views, enough basics in the kitchen to cook the meals we needed, and it sits right next to some UTV trails so we were able to drive right from the property onto the trails. Very close to other trails. If you plan to eat out be prepared to drive to restaurants (30 minutes for most). Host was easy and friendly to communicate with. The only thing we would suggest is for the house to have a deep clean. Bed was very comfy and sheets were very clean.
My stay at this cabin was absolutely perfect! The host was incredibly communicative, making the entire process smooth and stress-free. The cabin itself is well-maintained, spotlessly clean, and thoughtfully equipped with everything youâd need for a secluded, romantic getaway. Nestled on 40 acres that back up to the stunning Black Hills National Forest, the location offers breathtaking views and unparalleled privacy. Whether youâre looking to relax or explore, this cabin is an ideal retreat. I canât recommend it enough!
Although there were several homes within a mile, Hermits Cabin was surrounded by forest...wonderfully remote.
Located towards the north end of the Black Hills, we had Rapid City, Sturgis, Deadwood, Sprearfish Canyon, Hill City, Sylvan Lake/The Needles, Custer State Park and Mount Rushmore all within15-60 minutes. We had a wonderful time.
The cabin has been updated with flooring, appliances, and many amenities. The A/C worked wonderfully and we needed it as it was unseasonally warm. The garage extension was is a nice useful addition, especially if you have more than two guests.
Thank you very much.
This location is definitely remote! We enjoyed our stay and especially enjoyed the deer that came to visit each day. We weren't there a lot, so we didn't use many of the amenities but it's well-stocked and a nice place to stay.
Everything was great - the house was nicely decorated, remarkably clean, and in a beautiful private spot. The bed was big and comfy, and my son was comfortable sleeping on the couch. The house backs to woods and we enjoyed walking the trails, fires in the fire pit at night, and watching the stars. It was a great central location to Custer National Park, Badlands, Mt Rushmore, Devil's Tower, Spearfish Canyon, etc. We didn't want to leave!
The property is so beautiful! The drive into the property was neat too! The wildlife was a nice view each morning and sometimes the afternoon. We did not get to use the firepit, due to no fault of the hosts, weather wasn't in our favor. However, the host was nothing short of amazing. Even left us a little surprise being a half dozen of farm fresh eggs! đ The communication with the host was a breeze with timely responses and even a heads up one of the days informing of a vehicle to be coming into the 40 acres for our own ease of mind! Hundreds of trails all around! I would have no problem booking again when in the area!
This is the perfect place if you want to get away and disconnect from city life. You will be surrounded by nature, you can hear the wind, the nights are beautiful. The cabin was spacious for three people, the beds are comfortable.
