Beautiful historic hotel

Beautiful historic hotel. The free shuttle is worth the stay though the history, beautiful rooms, and grounds are close second. Only quirk is the elevator situation.. unfortunately the main elevators are out of service so you have to take the old service elevator to your floor. It's a cool old elevator but for some people it was a bit of problem (older people, lots of luggage, if you are on the 5th floor you get off on the 4th floor and take the stairs up to the 5th).

Beautiful, classic, charming property. All staff were courteous and professional. If you are looking for a quiet stay away from the hustle & bustle of the downtown area, it's a perfect spot. However, while classic in style, some things are a little outdated. And we had a room that was adjoined to another that had a family with small children who were very noisy- screaming, yelling, banging into the adjoining door. If this would bother you, be sure to request a room that isn't adjoined to another. In fairness to the property, we did not alert them about the noise because it quieted down by bedtime and we didn't want to ruin the family's time by complaining about their children/noise.

Stayed here a few years ago and since then it has been renovated. The room was nice. New furniture. Our tub didn't drain but they took care of it very timely. It is very convenient to so much within the park. Unfortunately the elevator was not working so they offered the service elevator which was finer but when it was time to check out the poor guy was super busy operating the elevator so it took a while to get downstairs. (the elevator hasn't been working since Feb! so we were told we stayed in July!) It was nice that they have a free shuttle to take you where you need to go. The weekend breakfast buffet was also very good. I think it is a great spot just wish it was a bit more reasonable for people to stay. Labor day weekend is over $500!!

The staff from the front desk to the restaurant was wonderful. What I didn't like was that the pool is not for your property only. We arrived at 9:55am and there was no where to sit and relax. We had no idea the pool is open to everyone.

Would have been nice to know the elevators would be out of service and our room would be on the 4th floor. Also the room was supposed to be a standard king bed and it was barely larger than a full size bed.

The perfect place to stay for a show at SPAC - a flat, easy, scenic 15 minute walk from your room to your seats for the show. The hotel is a lovely old building with all the charm and small complications that involves. The beds are very comfortable and every member of the staff was kind and helpful. The pool is a short walk away in another building, but worth the walk.

Check in was a breeze. Love staying here for a show at the neighboring SPAC. Have always had a great experience here until this time. The beds were not made correctly and sheets were falling off. Tub was clogged with hair. The elevator is being serviced and it is inconvenient to take the freight elevator. Hoping to return and have a better experience.

Quick getaway

This is our third time staying at the Gideon Putnam hotel in Saratoga. We love the classic charm and jazz music in the lobby. Service was very good, room comfortable and clean. We will definitely stay here again. The free trolley rides to downtown are a bonus.
