Avis pour Ground-Level Carriage House â Short Walk to Forsyth Park â Prime Location
Everything was clean and cute, we had everything we needed, and the fenced courtyard was amazing for walking our dogs. We had a small after hours problem with the gate late on a Saturday, and they replied to us within a couple minutes and got us right in.
When you pull up and park outside this house....you may be surprised to see people out on their porches smoking weed and letting their kids run around in the street; but that is what you should expect. The music blaring out of houses around the area and the open doors to these locations was a little strange. I'd have to say we did not feel really safe in his area. It is only a couple blocks from the park which is great!! But it is at the very north end of the park which we did not realize is not at all like the much more quiet and quaint Southern end of the park. There is a glaring difference. Here are a couple things about this unit that you can expect....
- Smells very musty. There is a dehumidifier in the very small bathroom but you will need to empty out the bin when it fills up.
- Can hear every person upstairs as they move around
- Garbage disposal was very stinky (we went to the store and bought some lemon drops to make it better)
- Rust all over refrigerator. It is just really old.
- Very shallow couch. If you take the back cushions off it will not be as bad.
- Really dirty floors. Wear your shoes or socks but DO NOT walk around with bare feet.
If you are used to the nice/quiet/quaint Savannah locations you may want to look elsewhere.
Just over a block away from beautiful Forsyth Park and the free trolley which made it so convenient to get around Savannah. Also with a Krogers onky 2 blocks away, getting snacks and groceries was a breeze. The carriage house is just as described with every kitchen and bath essential provided. Great place would stay again!
Let me preface my review by saying we liked the unit A LOT. They were very communicative, very accommodating and the place was very clean and well stocked. We would stay there again 100% the next time we were in Savannah.
2 things that we wanted to share:
1 - The tub was very clean but a bit beat up.
2 - The tub handles were very hard to turn. Could we turn it on? Yes. Was it a challenge ⊠yes.
Thank you again for sharing your home with us!
The Carriage House was a great choice for me, location wise. It really was a short walk to Forsythe Park, Krogers and easy access to other areas of the city, and the surrounding homes were lovely. And when I got there and had trouble with the AC system, I reached out to the hosts and they were super responsive getting back to me, helping me to get it re-set and cooling. The place was clean, and overall I found it a good lodging. I did have some issues, though: 1-it's very dark, unlike the pix, which must've had extra lighting brought in. It reminded me of a basement apartment. 2 - It's far back on the lot, so it's a long walk to unload your car. There is a back gate and some spaces back there, but apparently not for the use of guests. 3 - The atmosphere is a little cold, overall. The bed is comfy, but the couch is more stylish (though not uncomfortable) and there's only one armchair which again is stylish, not what I'd consider comfy. 4- The plumbing. You had to be careful when flushing the toilet that it flushed all the way. And the tap in the shower was very stiff - you really had to twist to get the hot/cold on and off. But, despite these issues, it was very clean and overall a good place. One final note: for some reason the outside light at the street gate is only motion activated, so finding it at night is pure luck - you have to walk past it to see the numbers. I found some guy wandering when I got home one night, completely confused as to the location.
The inside of the apartment/suite was quite nice, clean with all the amenities we needed. However the outside grounds were not. A little TLC (e.g. power wash building and sidewalk and stepping stones, etc), mulch the areas around the bamboo, trim/remove dead banboo growth...just needs attention outside
This was a great location for us. The space was comfortable for us and our two dogs. Wish there had been grass or gravel in the yard and not dirt. When it rained it was a muddy mess taking the dogs out.
Management was very responsive when our washer did not work and allowed us to use the washer in another unit.
Requested cleaning supplies from maintenance man and he brought me some so I could clean the floors. Much appreciated!
From arrival to departure, everything was great! The property was just as advertised. The amenities were just as advertised. Communication with the property manager was prompt and pleasant. Two blocks from Forsyth Park. We walked to many sites. We will be back!
This cute carriage house was inside a gated area, close to food and coffee shops, a few blocks from a free shuttle stop and old town trolley stop and was only a block away from Forsyth park. We absolutely enjoyed our stay and the hospitality.
Fabulous place! Communication was spectacular and location was PERFECT! Housekeeping needs to step up their game a bit. I had to wipe down the kitchen before we could use it and the whole place needed a good, deep cleaning - but it was livable. Overall, it was a fantastic stay though. Thoroughly enjoyed it!
We enjoyed our stay here. The courtyard was so quaint, especially at night when the festoon lights were on. It was so nice being able to walk to Forsyth Park. Looking forward to coming back.
We enjoyed our apartment. It was very practical with functional kitchen, comfortable bedroom and clean bathroom. It was very easy to park on the street across the entryway. We encountered very nice neighbours. We would go back.
This place was perfect for our anniversary trip! Plus we were able to bring our new puppy along as well which was a plus! The location was great, right next to the park (which our dog absolutely loved!) and took no time at all to get downtown to all the action! We will definitely consider staying here again next time we come to Savannah!
This particular location was OK.
Pros: The bed was very comfortable, the couch pulled out nicely and easy for our daughter, and the kitchen was well stocked. We appreciated the Keurig pods, laundry detergent pods, dish wash pods(although they never seemed to dissolve), soaps, and provided toiletries. The location just a couple blocks away to walk to the south end of Forsyth Park, coffee shops, terrific breakfast and brunch locations, a Kroger, and more. Ample street parking was great. The TV is a Roku smart tv which came in handy when our little one needed a short tv break from all our activities. The decorations were adorable, and the unit stayed cold. Also, we felt very safe, as you need a code to get through a gate to access the property, and another code for the unit. The courtyard was cute, too. Shower water was easy to adjust to steamy hot or nice and cool with great water pressure.
Cons: The floor was dirty, so much so that our socks were black and practically sticky within a couple of hours. The renters did offer to send cleaners, but at that point we were already set up and didnât feel comfortable having somebody come in if we werenât there. The kitchen sink leaked underneath in the cabinet, the drawers on each bedside table fell out with just the slightest pull, and one of the drawers in the bathroom was practically impossible to open. The pull-out couch had a dirty bed sheet still on it when we opened it (clean ones were provided and used immediately, but still kinda gross to see upon opening). While the unit did stay cold, it was very humid, to the point that clothes and bedding felt slightly damp. Some light switches were missing adjustment covers, and some outlets were missing faceplates. Not a big deal but could be dangerous for a younger child than ours.
Overall we enjoyed our stay, as the hosts were very communicative, provided a great welcome packet with tons of helpful information, and included lots of sweet touches to help feel more at home.
We loved the property in an historic neighborhood. A short walk to Forsyth Park and area restaurants. The apartment was delightful in a historic home with easy access. Bed was very comfortable. Living area was nice. Enjoyed the courtyard outside our door. Perfect for our one night in Savannah.
My husband and I came here with our college-age daughter and our two dogs. The home was exactly as described it was very clean in a good location. There was a cute Courtyard which my dogs really enjoyed. We found everything we needed and the unit and we would definitely stay here again. Neighbors were nice and on Saturday there's a farmers market at the park which is a very short walk.
We traveled to Savannah, Georgia to see family and we have a large dog. She is a four-legged fur baby who doesnât like to be left behind. This was the perfect place for all of us!
The lower carriage house was perfect, 2 blocks from the park, walking distanto restaurants and pubs
Perfect for a couple night stay with our dog. Savannah is very dog friendly, we walked everywhere including to River Street (little over a mile) and enjoyed a couple pubs and restaurants.
