It was super spacious, lots of room for our extended family of 8 to spread out. Bedrooms and beds were accomodating, the upstairs kitchen was well stocked with cooking pots/pans/utensils and we loved the barstools at the kitchen island. Great location and close to all of the local attractions. Parking was free on the street and not really a problem. Our only real complaints were 1) the upstairs bedroom on the end near the bathroom had a bed that was extremely unstable so every time I moved, the bed would move and wake up my husband and vice versa. 2) The noise insulation was poor so we were up all night with the noises from outside - people doing construction, throwing things in the dumpster next door (no idea why that was happening at 3 a.m.) - but that problem was solved with ear plugs the remaining nights. Host was communicative with our questions and checkin/checkout was easy. 3.) The bathroom sink upstairs at the end of the hallway was not user-friendly. Brushing teeth or washing face was kind of impossible but we made it work. We'd stay there again, just come more prepared!
We were a group of 6 women travelling to Savannah for a girls weekend. The house was perfect for us! We loved the neighborhood and parking was easier than we expected. There was no Keurig machine at the home though the description said they had one and the management company got one to us within a few hours! Would absolutely stay here again!
1014 Abercorn was the perfect property to celebrate the mothers of our family. Everyone had enough room to enjoy the space collectively and individual needs. We were grateful for the thoughtfulness put into this amazing short-term vacation rental.
Good location, but not enough space for large groups for extended stay
Location is great. We walked everywhere. The home was clean and well equipped. We had 13 adults, for a week, which means we had people on air mattresses, which we expected. What isn't particularly clear in the description is that 2 of the bathrooms are within bedrooms, which was a challenge, especially in the middle of the night. We also had luggage everywhere. Towels were also everywhere, and they only provide one towel per guest, and not nearly enough towel racks to hang them, so you had to keep track of where your towel was and make sure it was somewhere it could dry. We struggled with everyone being comfortable temperature wise, some bedrooms were freezing while other rooms were ovens, even with a window open.Knowing we were going to need to use the air mattresses provided, I reached out to management in advance to confirm they were in working order, they confirmed they were. They were not, which we didn't discover until midnight. I texted management and they responded promptly but were going to have to go to the store and buy more, which they did the next day. The bathroom light over the sink downstairs blew a fuse, which they didn't have and had to order. They brought by a supplemental light but the light it provided was more like a nightlight. That bathroom has no windows and it was dark our entire stay.We ate at the house for almost every meal. There are plenty of dishes, cups and silverware. The beds were comfortable, as was the furniture.
This is a great house in a nice neighborhood. It is close to downtown Savannah, River Street and the beautiful Forsyth Park. This house is great for hosting a small family gathering.
The home is beautiful on the inside. The neighborhood is not a place I would have chosen had I known I would be staying across from a bus stop where homeless men live. The homeless men got into a fight one night and we heard a drug deal happen in the alley right next to the house. The upstairs master bed has a large sink hole on one side making it very uncomfortable. The house needs an alarm system to make the guests feel more comfortable in that location.
Having five bedrooms, it was a nice house for multiple families or a big family. The two downstairs bedrooms did not have closets, so you're living out of your suitcase, which can be a pain if you're staying for an extended period of time. Has a great gathering area upstairs, along with a large kitchen and bar. The pool table downstairs was an extra bonus.
Our troop of nine 14 year old Girl Scouts used this property as homebase for 5 days in Savannah. The space was a great fit for us. Three adults each in their own rooms upstairs and 9 girls downstairs with a pool table. There was room for all of us to eat together upstairs, and the girls loved having their own space downstairs. When we had a leaky air bed a new one was delivered quickly. Overall, a great visit!
Family reunion with siblings. Lovely home in a sketchy neighborhood. As we were unloading our vehicle a man approached us asking for a cigarette. Quite a few homeless people hanging out around the corner at the convenient store.
Accommodations were excellent and well suited for our large group of 9 adults and 1 teenager.
Plenty of room for everyone. Location worked perfectly. Only issue was that the stove/oven downstairs is just for show. Part of the appeal was two full kitchens for our family, so to find out after we confirmed and paid for the stay that it was a non-working appliance was a disappoinment. Otherwise, clean and perfect stay.
The place was pretty but you could tell that it was a cabinet storefront at sometime, every piece of cabinet was a different style and color. However no storage in the bedrooms, specially the two downstairs. Not even room for our luggage. But the worst part was the dungeon that was supposed to be a full bathroom downstairs. Shower was to small and so was the shower curtain, the floor of pebbles hurt your feet. No matter how high you turn the heater on the dungeon never warmed up. It was really upsetting because I am an elderly woman and couldnât climb the stairs, so I had to freeze every time I showered. Really not worth the money. Pretty but not practical, do not recommend this place at all. Iâm very lucky my family stuck it out because if not we would have lost our money.
We had a great time exploring Savanah the town was amazing and very walkable. We had several great meals at the local restaurants and the home was very spacious and right near everything. The house was close to the grocery, a pizzaria, the park and tennis courts and about a mile walk into town-
Overall, we were very much pleased with this property: it is large/spacious and is a historic building in a historic location. Rating it requires consideration of the rental cost ($$$$) and historical nature of the building versus simply not maintaining the property.
The location, exposed brick and old wood flooring = historic.
A moldy/smelly washer, freezer drawer that wonât close (even the light stayed on), dry rot vanity in the bathroom, an old and worn out toilet seat and dilapidated baseboard trim, an âoutside doorâ threshold that allows leaves to blow in, a broken toaster, and one broken oven = lack of maintenance.
Other notes: some amenities are missing â no dish rags, tiny âhotel sizeâ bath soaps for a 10 day stay, no washing machine detergent at all, etc. are an unnecessary inconvenience.
With just a little TLC, this could be one of THE MOST amazing properties in the area. As it is, considering the very high cost, it is disappointing the items above have not been addressed.
