The Tipsy Turtle was perfect. Kind of a last minute decision for Easter family gathering but we had plenty of room, very close to the beach (walking distance) close to restaurants and amenities. The house and property is clean and the rooms are spacious. Parking is as posted, we had 3 trucks and a large SUV, it was tight but we managed. We would definitely return here and recommend to friends and family. We thoroughly enjoyed our short visit, Thank you for sharing this beautiful home .
Very comfy beds and clean. Nice kitchen and screened in porch. It was a cold Thanksgiving weekend so we couldn't take advantage of all the outside areas, but we had a nice time. Kitchen could use a few more pots and pot holders, but otherwise well stocked. TVs in each room were great for my teens who wanted some alone time too, and a short walk to the North beach area.
Pros:Nice size bedrooms / house for a group but no more than 6 adultsShort walk to beach, bars, shopping, etcGreat water pressureLaundry on-siteLots of activities to entertain kiddos (N/A to our trip but I noticed!)Streaming services available on TVs in each room (must log in with your own username/password)Nap-inducing couchFull kitchen/coffee barSome beach items availableSun room/patio with grill for entertaining but be sure to bring or buy charcoalResponsive/quick to repair issuesCons:Living room layout inefficient / not great for a large group to all use at onceSlanted hallway makes you feel drunkTowel rack in bathroom basically broken, drops all towels on the floorKeurig machine randomly tasted like soap (had to rewash)Beach Umbrella already broken when we got thereNot much room to maneuver in the one bedroom with two beds in thereDishwasher did not always clean the dishesDoorknob too close to the door frameBathrooms and kitchen could use a deep clean
To summarize, this was a second house booking because our first cancelled on us. We had planned this vacation for several months and had to find another house, this one fit our needs. We are from the mountains in Northeast Tennessee, the week before our trip, Helene ravaged our area, taking out most of our bridges, several of our neighbor's homes, the power for days, and when we decided to not lose our money by canceling and go on vacation anyway, we still had no running water to our homes. During that time, cellular swrvice was a bit spotty, which I assume is the cause of us not receiving the check-in instructions and guide book. When I attempted to contact customer service before our arrival, I didn't get a response, neither did VRBO when attempting to go through them. Thankfully, we were able to figure out how to get into the house. The stay was great. We had a wonderful time and the people on the island are always welcoming and pleasant. Unfortunately, because I didn't get the guide book, we just did our best guesses from stays at other houses with check out. We in no way want to point blame at anyone, customer service seemed very busy and with our travel directions changed becaused of Helene, let's just say that it was a much-needed reprieve by our family. We were grateful to have spent some relaxing beach time and introduce our granddaughter to the ocean. We highly recommend this adorable house, the screened porch is a great spot for sitting and talking for hours.
Rental was clean and plenty of space for our party of 10! Screened in porch was pleasant to sit out on even during rainy evenings. Loved having laundry on site too. Lights lighting up porch and back patio set the mood in the evenings. Kitchen is a bit small but we made it work and was able to make yummy meals. Plenty of pans, pots, dishes. Keurig and Coffee pot combo was great!
Was told upon arrival there was a broken faucet, a broken chair, a broken grill, and we found also a broken toilet seatâŠ. We were told issues would be fixed the day of check in⊠someone came on the fourth day and said faucet could not be repairedâŠalmost $2300, 7 days later , none of the repairs had been doneâŠ. We also take care of the rentals we use, and had to empty nasty vaccum in order to use itâŠ. After , apparently seeing too many cars, on a camera, we assume, someone called and said that led them to think we had too many people staying in the house!!!!! There were also several dead bugs in the houseâŠ. We have been renting houses on Tybee for over 20 yearsâŠ. Never had an experience like this .. I think we are entitled to a partial refund⊠certainly we will not do business hereâŠ. Oh, could not get door open, and when I called, a different company answered, said they had no record of my reservationâŠ. After 3 tries, the person said , oh, we handle that property , too. Yes , the phone calls about the cars, not being able to get in, and the condition of the house ⊠we were happy to leaveâŠ.
