What we didn’t like about the property: We found a crack vile filled with a white powder substance in the hallway. We told the front desk and showed them and I asked if I should call the Sheriff Dept. And she said no, the Mgr. will handle it. My husband and I were shocked to say the least. We also didn’t like that our toilet didn’t work. The shower was disgusting. We basically ran out of the place scared. Best of all, they said they wouldn’t refund our money. Would never recommend this place to anyone.

Pet friendly, really friendly!
We were concerned maybe staying in an 1800’s cabin might be a bit sketchy, but we needed a pet friendly hotel and this was it. We were exceptionally surprised when we arrived with the check in, these folks are above and beyond nice. When we went to our cabin we were even more surprised as they had just finished remodeling all of their facilities and the cabin was like new on the inside, new flooring, window treatments, paint, bathroom, and beds. But yet it maintained its 1800’s look and feel. We definitely will be returning to enjoy all of the history of not only Virginia City but little Nevada City as well, the entire town is the hotel.

Authentic 1860's experience in Nevada City
If you are looking for all of the modern hotel conveniences, keep driving and look elsewhere. But you'll miss the beauty and rich history of Virginia City and Nevada City (less than two miles down the road). This hotel is straight out of history. I stayed in a cabin. You'll have a bed, heat, and a shower. No TV, no clocks, no coffe maker or fridge, wi-fi in the lobby only. Coffee shop available in the morning, restaurant down the street which is delicious. Nothing open late and you better get what you need before you get there. It's wonderful. A break away from all the hustle and bustle. Go take a look at the suites that are available in the main hotel. Absolutely gorgeous. Again, if you're looking for modern, don't stop. I visit these towns every year and learn something new about this treasure of a place every time.
