Great grounds, terrible hotel facilities and hotel itself badly in need of renovation. All effort is put in grounds and nothing else. Staff was actually rude at check in and manager was no better and actually told me it’s a 3 start property not 4 as advertised. Guest want better service not a coupon for a free cabana stay. Culture of rude guest interaction even in the dinning options. I will not return or recommend

I would not stay here. Great grounds poorly used. I would downgrade it to a 3 star property. Customer service is non existent. We ended up spending all of our time outside the facility. The staff does not understand hospitality and this is why I avoid Hilton properties. You go from pretentious and stuffy Waldorf Astoria to non existent staff with a culture of bad service. I will skip this property. It would have been gorgeous in its hey day but poorly maintained and dusty everywhere I couldn’t stop sneezing. Towels, sheets and bedding were so worn they were brownish and lack any iota of fluff. So disappointed. It put a damper on our Big Island stay. I booked the grounds! Never again

🔴 Challenges to Be Aware Of 🚶‍♂️ Distance to Parking • Getting from your room to your car is a long trek—about 1,500 steps one way (approx. 3,000 steps round trip). • A tram system is available, but it’s often inconvenient—rarely heading the direction you need and slow to arrive. • Most guests end up walking the entire distance, which can be frustrating, hot, especially with children or gear. 💸 Resort Pricing • Be prepared for extremely high on-site prices: • A single pizza can cost $78 • Sunscreen is priced at $40 • Prices feel excessive and not family-friendly. 🚗 Extra Charges • Expect to pay a $50/day parking fee • In addition, there’s a $50/day resort fee • These hidden costs add up quickly and can make the stay feel overpriced. 🧹 Housekeeping Policy • Room cleaning requires a 24-hour advance notice. • While the intent may be to reduce unnecessary cleaning, it’s inflexible for guests with unpredictable schedules. ⸻ ✅ What We Loved 🌊 The Lagoon • The lagoon was a highlight of the stay—beautiful, relaxing, and a great place for families to enjoy. ⸻ Final Thoughts This resort has some incredible natural features, like the lagoon, but logistical issues and excessive pricing can significantly impact your overall experience. Room was guaranteed at 4pm. Not ready and we checked in at 1pm. Moved us to a different room which was poorly kept- dirty, dusty, blood stains on pillows. Never been used or cleaned. Asked for manager and moved us. Our entire 1st day was wasted. Staff is not kind and not accommodating. The large pools and lagoon is nice and well maintained. But the rooms are old and not worth it. Property needs to be updated. Need a breakfast spot that serves a la carte not just a buffet. The little coffee shop sold out of all pastries by 8am. Just not what I expected. Thought service would be great. Will not return. Going to continue staying at Marriott.

I was disappointed nobody cleaned the room even after 4 days. I called and they promptly tried to clean it after 5pm which isn't OK. The many texts were nice but staff and texts do NOT match. Poor communication. Staff was nice and accommodating otherwise. The Ocean Tower could use a nice venue for drinks and music in the evenings.
