Clean room with modern appliances. Outside lighting could be better, we got in at 9:30 pm and it was VERY dark in the parking lot. Other than that a very good place to stay.

Such lovely attention to detail in the rooms. Wild Rest was a true gem of a stop during a long weekend spent hiking and exploring the area. The rocking chairs on the patio were great for evenings spent outside.

Room clean and quiet. Parking easy and close by. Room was modernized. Clean. This is a hotel where you check in with your cellphone. There is no check in staff. The cleaning people are friendly and helpful. These are the only people of the hotel you will see during your stay.

We were traveling into town for business and I happened upon this hotel when searching for accommodations. Wildrest was such a sweet, cozy, and comfortable cabin for our stay, with modern amenities! The staff was also very attentive and responsive to our calls and requests. This is the perfect option for those who want a little mountain getaway.

I was enchanted by this property. Having a pool, bar, restaurant was much less important than sitting in the rocking chairs on the porch with a blanket. The property was beautiful. I really enjoyed talking to the manager. He was very helpful and gave me information on the history of the property. The room was comfortable and had everything I needed. I will be staying here again when in Waynesville. An absolutely beautiful property.

4/10 Poor

Disliked: Staff & service, amenities, property conditions & facilities
We stayed one night, and the heat in our split-level cabin never worked. It was around 40°F outside, and neither unit turned on. There were no extra blankets or sheets for the pull-out couch, so we were cold all night and barely slept. I was especially worried about my elderly granny. The next morning, a staff member came to the cabin and confirmed to the owner by phone that the heat was not working and that it was very cold inside. She spent about 45 minutes coming in and out to work on the units while we were trying to pack and get ready to check out. We had to ask for a refund and received only half back. Since we stayed just one night and had no working heat for that entire night, I feel a larger refund would have been fair. Guests with limited mobility should also know there is a walk from the car to the cabin, plus stairs and a hill.

What a treasure! Great location! I know this is a work in progress, but the property is on it's way! We were so glad they kept a lot of the original features like wood paneling, windows, and stone! The additions are fun and bring it up to date. We slept so well!!! Quiet and peaceful. We look forward to staying again.

There is no one on duty at the motel, as everything is handled by phone. Our check-in information was supposed to be sent 15 minutes before check-in, but we had to call to receive it. Communication was difficult due to a language barrier, but we eventually received the information and accessed our room. The room was small but cozy, comfortable, and clean, and the internet was fast. However, the walls were paper-thin. At midnight, we had to knock on the neighboring room’s door and ask them to turn down their TV. Our biggest concern was that if a serious issue had occurred, there was no staff on-site to assist us.

Wonderful place. It is an older lodge so keep that in mind. There are some upgrades but per the info booklet, there will be more. So you will see a few things that still need to be tweaked. So very charming, would definitely stay again.
