No WiFi - and thin walls, noisy at times but staff and food beyond amazing - upside surprise on food and staff couldn't be more helpful. Rooms are small. Beware when they have weddings not to be in front of venue - very noisy

We stayed in a garden suite. It was excellent and very peaceful. The grounds are beautiful and it was nice to be in such a peaceful spot. The room was spacious and the bathroom was well appointed. I highly recommend this hotel.

Lovely staff and quaint hotel; narrow staircase

I accidently went to the Minster Mill hotel but, as they are opposite each other and are sister hotels, the receptionist found my booking and directed me. Be aware the road to the hotel is very narrow - but it is a one-way street and takes you back onto the road you left (like a crescent) when you leave.

Dreadful weather so helpful check in staff relocated my room close to reception. The original room was overlooking the river so upgrade was unnecesary! Restaurant menu was great, thoroughly enjoyed dining in the evening.

Not ideal for business stays

Business stop over. Arrived before check-in time but no effort to see when room would be ready. Was staying in pub part of hotel but they didn't have my booking, not a good start. Very poor phone signal at hotel, often no coverage at all, and internet wasn't connecting so was left unable to operate for work as I would normally do on a trip like this. Room as tired, especially bathroom. Expected better for £170/night. Good things: comfy bed, quiet, excellent food. Unfortunately outweighed by poor things, won't stay again for business, doesn't suit it.

Beautiful Property, But Poor Service and Uncomfort

We stayed at the Minster Mill during summer and, while the grounds and setting are truly beautiful, the experience left a lot to be desired. The rooms have no air conditioning, which we were aware of, but when our fan broke, we were told there were no replacements. Only after pressing did they find one, which was barely functional. The following day we requested a proper replacement and were told it would be handled—no one followed up. Luckily, we had a cousin nearby who lent us a working fan. Service overall was disappointing. The bedside lamps were faulty and required fiddling to work. Staff seemed indifferent and not particularly warm or helpful. The only real moment of good service was from a lovely lady who offered our dog a bowl of water as we passed through the grounds—sadly, that was the best hospitality we received all weekend. Wouldn’t recommend staying here in the summer unless you want to sizzle through the night. It’s a shame, as the setting is gorgeous but the service and comfort levels just didn’t live up to expectations.

Was a lovely stay but some bits need sorting in the rooms. No bathroom light switches?!. Curtain broken in room. Tried to book a meal in the restaurant. They took my number to give me a call back but never did.. The grounds and buildings are stunning. Lovely walks around close by.

A location and property with a lot of potential and yet to label itself "luxury" means a focus on the detail is required, and staff attitude and demeanour that reflects such a claim. Breakfast at the Old Mill was bland and uninspiring, and certainly not worth the £20 + service charge (!!) we were surprised with on our bill at checkout. This was not helped by the terrible attitude of the staff on our 2nd morning. Responding with obvious distain when we ask for an extra Espresso or when we pointed out they had got our order wrong...

Came for a birthday get away! The hotel itself is lovely lots of different walks and plenty to see. Only downfalls were when we arrived to check in the room may not have been ready yet as the door was already open and there was no slippers or marshmallows on the first night.

The Hotel was lovely . But there was a wedding on the night of our stay and there was not enough staff . The bar was understaffed and waited for ages for drinks . The bar staff kept disappearing to the wedding . The bar kept running out of drinks and cocktail mixers .

Minster Mill hotel stay

We were celebrating our 20th Wedding anniversary so wanted a spa hotel and something a bit special. First impressions were very good and we started our afternoon in the spa of which I couldn't fault. The 2 staff were really welcoming and the treatments were fantastic. The spa facilities were really lovely. Our room wax really nice and spacious...we had booked a suite so that we could have more space and a bath. However, when I went to use the bath, the plug wouldn't fit properly. It didn't even have a seel, so unfortunately I couldn't use the bath! We paid £315 for this room specifically to have a bath tub, it was such a shame.
