Kingfisher Bay Resort
"The resort is beautifully integrated into the natural environment with a maze of boardwalks winding through rainforest and over natural ponds. It feels like you’re staying within the natural landscape rather than imposing on it, and the beachfront location is perfect for taking in the sunset! The eco-living model brings the obvious challenge of managing moisture; our initial room had a strong musty odour and visible mould on the bathroom ceiling. Moving to a new room made for a far more comfortable stay. The staff were generally efficient but customer service often lacked a sense of warmth. Restaurant reservations are expected, so our laissez-faire approach to planning meals on holiday was met with some frustration, though there appeared to be ample tables available. The food was excellent but if you’re staying for several days, you might look for more variety. We loved the Illumina laser light show - fantastic! Book early if you plan to do any activities, as numbers are capped. The 4WD day tour was excellent thanks to the guides knowledge and humour. Next time we’d love to self-drive so we could linger longer at places of interest. Dingo education is excellent and sticks stocked at the gates a nice touch. Be sure to bring any essentials, snacks and drinks with you. The resort shop is expensive and some items were close or past expiry. We enjoyed our stay and having learned the ropes, know it will be even better next time!"
