THE NEIGHBORHOOD
Acropolis is one of the most picturesque neighborhoods in Athens. The long pedestrian street passes in front of the Acropolis, Herodeion Theater, the New Acropolis Museum and finally reaches the Hadrian Arch. It is also known as Makrigianni quarter in Athens, where the statue of Makrigiannis lies, the hero of the Greek Revolution, that is found at the beginning of this street, in a small round square. Its architectural beauty and its historical significance, make this quarter popular among tourists and a favorite spot of the Athenians to stroll around on a Sunday morning, under the Holy Rock. It borders with the picturesque neighborhood of Plaka from one side and the region of Koukaki on the other.
The most famous sights in Athens are found within a walking distance from the Neighborhood. Museums include the new Acropolis Museum (5 minute walk from the apartment), the new Jewish Museum of Greece (13 min walk), the Museum of Greek Folk Art (12 min walk), an annex of which is the Old Public Baths building, the Frissiras Museum, the Museum of Popular Music Instruments, the Museum of Pavlos and Alexandra Kanellopoulou and the Athens University Museum (12 min walk). Nearby is Adrianou Street (10 min walk) which may be the oldest street in Athens still in continuous use with exactly the same layout since antiquity, that leads to the Roman Agora - Roman Forum (15 min walk) and to Thiseio. Also, Acropolis entrance is a 5 min walk from the apartment. Other remarkable sights nearby are Herodes Atticus Theatre, the Pnyx Hill, and the picturesque neighborhood with the greek island-like houses, Anafiotika. Aside from sightseeing, note that the neighborhood is full of nice cafes and bars.
GETTING AROUND
Metro / Underground is the most convenient mean of transit for the location. Acropoli Station is only a 4 min walk away (350 m), from where you have access to Line 2. All Public transport (Bus and Tram) is also easily accessible from the location.

The property is as shown in the pictures.. Very comfortable, in a great location that is a short distance from several areas that you would want to be, and sites you want to see. A lot of the area tours are also within walking distance, and easy to find, so do not hesitate to book with confidence.
This space was more than what I expected - and that's hard to do. The place was clean and is well taken care of, very nicely updated bathroom. The beds were comfortable with air conditioning is each room for sleeping comfort. We commented multiple times at how close to everything the apartment is when you are in Athens. At the very foot of the Parthenon in a more residential area, so more quiet than what we saw in other areas of town as we walked around. Everything exceeded our expectations!
Our family of five thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this apartment. We could easily walk to major sites, shopping and restaurants within 10-15 min. Loved the balcony and views of Acropolis. Only a few minor issues to mention, including:
- availability of hot water (only enough for one short shower)
- building hallways very dark unless you can find light switch. Seemed unsafe at times.
Very relaxing to sit on the balcony with a view of the Parthenon. The neighborhood is filled with restaurants, coffee/pastry shops etc., and is just steps from the Acropolis Museum & the Plaka district. Awesome roof top bar at the hotel across the street. You won't be disappointed with the location. No need for a car and felt very safe the whole time.
Had a little trouble with the lock box at check-in but a extra key was quickly provided. We had constant problems with the water heater that never got resolved. If you rent this apt., I would ask for confirmation the water heater has been fixed. If the water heater worked this would be a 5 star review.
The apartment was exactly as advertised, clean, close to attractions, roomy and extremely comfortable beds
Only suggestions would be to have more than 2 chairs on the balcony and more places to hang towels in bathroom as we were two couples and there was only one hook. Loved the place otherwise!!!
This apartment is very close to the main attractions and the photos are accurate. Beautiful balcony for evening relaxing and also morning coffee. Nice restaurants right across the street and also at the corner. Would stay again.
Our family of four stayed in this apartment for four nights in June. Great location a block from the Acropolis Museum and a short walk to the Acropolis itself and/or the many restaurants and shops of the Plaka. The apartment was clean, modern, spacious and well stocked. Everything worked well, including the AC! The check in and check out process was easy. Also, I'm not sure whether they are affiliated or not, but the Welcome Pickups service our Upstreat hosts connected us with--for transport from the airport to the apartment and then from the apartment to the ferry port at the end of our stay worked out great too.
The placement of this flat is perfectly positioned for all any activities you are looking to do in Athens. There is the view of the Acropolis from the porch, the travel buses are accessible two blocks away, close walking distance to the New Acropolis Museum and the Metro station. Loved the decor, simple but functional. The rooms are nicely sized. It was clean, and well maintained. If I ever traveled to Athens again I would gladly stay here again!!
