I always stay here but lift been out of order for last month must be hard for older people going there perfect location for any body middle of town a part from lift not working it’s good

Not so great Victoria hotel

As you walk into the hotel it looks like it should be a grand experience however, this definitely is not the case, the staff are far from happy or keen to greet guests, not a smile on faces, then you get told the lift is out of service which is never great with all the stairs you have to climb. Then we move on to the room, handles on windows were broken, bathroom door handle slightly hanging off, chips in the bath, radiator cover loose from the wall. The bed was very noisy, any movement at all resulted in loud noises.

So cold in the room and no thermostat to control the temperature….spoke to receptionist and was reminded the radiators are all connected so can’t be adjusted to comfort in the too ….stayed with young family so will not be taking the chance agin. It’s a shame coz it’s a nice and clean property with walking distance to all the amenities.

Was not worth upgrading to an executive room

We booked the executive double room. Although advertised as having air-conditioning, the room did not!. It was extremely small warm and stuffy. The bathroom was bigger than the actual living quarters. There was no bath in the bathroom, advertised as having free standing bath. The bathroom door in room 402 does not close or stayed closed. The actual hotel its self is amazing and very beautiful. Sad about the standards and false advertising.

I like that this hotel was close to the train station and St George’s hall which was where I was working. The room was semi clean, some parts were a little dusty and the bath tub was a little rusty. The shower wasn’t hot enough for my preference. My room was directly in front of the station so I could hear the hooting and hollering from people going on the night out, but this didn’t prevent me from sleeping. The room was warm and bed was cozy. The staff were great, to the point that they were kind enough to give me a bag of ice for my twisted ankle.
