First of all, this is probably the most unique property we have ever stayed in. Is it a camper? Is it a cabin? It's both! This is a great property near Kettle Moraine tucked away in a secluded wooded camp. The camper was a bit tight for 3 adults, but no worries because the adjacent 3 season room really maximized the space. It was a hot weekend so having a/c in the camper was a big plus. The camper is stocked with all the essentials and the owner left us a little welcome note. Small gestures like that sure make you feel welcome. The owners were very responsive and gave us great ideas of things to do in the area. Thanks to Jamie & Zak for their hospitality!
We had a really nice stay! The camper was very quaint and clean. Jamie and Zak were great hosts! The only downsides to the stay were the mice who made an appearance and the fact that the bed wasnât the most comfortable. Otherwise, it was great. Beautiful property, very quiet, peaceful. Everything expected from a camper. The additional space where the tv and futon are is definitely a bonus! It didnât feel like we were closed in or on top of each other or stuck in close proximity. Overall, it was lovely! Far enough away to feel away/secluded but not too far where you feel like youâre too far from the convenience of a town/city.
Beautiful little getaway. Nice and secluded. Owners were very kind and responsive. Highly recommend the ice age trail between Mauthe lake and butler for good trails and hiking
Another great stayâŠwe took our camp chairs and sat down by the pond to watch the sun go down over the trees, and the moon and twilight come over the water, listening to the bullfrogs and birds. Camper is clean and vintage and private, and big âporchâ is spacious and comfortable! Perfect location to drive to Harrington Beach and swim in Lake Michigan for the day, and drive back through the country roads. Love it! Bring bug sprayâŠitâs summer in the woods in Wisco!!
I brought a city friend (Atlanta) to experience the great outdoors, but with some nice amenities. I've stayed at this camp before (in the amazing Glamping Tent) and always enjoy it. We walked around the ponds (frogs, tadpoles, turtles, fish, herons, other bird life) and along some of the birch tree trails. The trailer has a vintage feel, and is in a nice private location up the hill. The beds were comfortable. The front room add on was the best touch though! Spacious and cozy. We ate at the Hamburger Haus, along a beautiful scenic road, with the charming Dundee Mill and beautiful ponds and river right behind it. Great small town Wisconsin experience. Will be back!
I stayed here for my annual birthday retreat. It was exactly what I needed. The immersion in nature was perfect, as was the cabin for the rainy day! Thanks for sharing your space with us!
This was a great place for what we wanted! We needed to get out of the chaos and this place was perfect for that! Just a couple suggestions: it needs more lighting outside. It was too dark and not much we could do after sunset. Wifi was a need and we thought it came with it but it didnât! Overall, itâs a good place if you are looking for a peaceful place!
Beautiful spot. Very peaceful, lots of trees-so nice! The camper was nice-older, but clean. There's a 3 seasons room attached that was great-more than doubled the space. Close to lakes and beaches. We went swimming and hiking in the state forest. Thanks, Zac and Jamie, for a great weekend. PS. we were lucky and had perfect weather!
The all season room made for nice visiting space. Although the RV was an older model it was well maintained and very clean. Space between this property and other campers allowed for privacy and quiet. Nice cross between camping and glamping. Rugged enough to feel like camping. The campground is well cared for and peaceful. Responses to emails were timely.
We enjoyed our short vacation!
Very beautiful place. Close to scenic and historical areas of the Kettle Moraine state forest.
We loved a gazebo outside. Protected us against rain.
Thank you for allowing us to bring our dog. He really enjoyed our quality time together!
Really enjoyed our stay. A few of us had never been in an RV before, so this was the perfect introduction! The attached room was fantastic for eating and playing games. We cooked breakfast and dinner each day in the kitchen with no problems.
Plenty of room for sleeping, well stocked, perfect sized fridge. The back had a wonderful fire pit. Thank you again for letting us stay at your place!
The set-up is unique: the unit is an old RV attached to a large, nicely furnished screened porch. The owners of the unit were responsive and nice and they accurately described the unit. The RV has the essentials: a short queen bed, a minimal kitchen, and a tiny bathroom.. The add-on porch is open and airy, in contrast to the dark and galley-like configuration of the RV. The unit is a bit secluded from the other units in the RV park and it has a sweet gazebo outside. It is just a few minutesâ drive from Kettle Morraine/Mauthe Lake. There are some negatives: the RV has a very faint smell of cigarette smoke (I would guess it is a decades-old smell, in the woodwork and walls). The tiny shower has a very high step to get inside it and, unless you are a child, you will be wrapped in the shower curtain because the shower it is so small. There is no storage for clothes so we were tripping over our full suitcases. The most difficult thing is the uncomfortable beds: they are hard as rocks. I could not sleep on the queen and my husband could not sleep on the queen or the futon I note that a previous review mentioned bringing a mattress topper, which I thought was ridiculous BEFORE visiting. The bunk beds are too small for adults, so we didn't try. In sum, the unit was accurately described. We knew we were staying in an RV and that it would be small (again, the airy porch provides needed light and room). Re-reading reviews, I am not surprised that some refer to the unit as a camping or rustic experience. It is certainly more convenient than tent camping, but may not be as comfortable as more traditional lodging.. The unit cost (rent and several fees) is considerably more expensive than nearby motels, but it is closer than anything we could find to the beautiful park, as it is about a 6-7 minute drive. I think the unit could work for a couple (I cannot see the unit housing more than 2 adults) if both are able to sleep on a very hard surface (which we could do just a few years ago!).
Yikes- Not for city folk; tall man walked up to our campfire through the woods
I was with my sister and her two teenage children; we ended up leaving the property in fear when a tall man approached us through the dark woods as we sat by our bonfire. He did not announce himself and stayed in the dark. He scared the daylights out of us. Cute idea of the RV and built on cabin piece. But not well maintained. Shower did not work well.
Stove did not light. Not for city folk. Could be okay for a family with a man and a gun.
Was a great weekend even though I did not enough fishing in. The place was just as described very nice setup enough room and a little more. At the end of the road so was very quiet. Will be back again and I promise I will do lots more fishing. Thanks
A very nice weekend getaway. We had a wonderful time during our stay. However, we would have been more pleased with stricter sanitation procedures between stays. The hosts were wonderful and very attentive to our comfort.
