A Satisfactory Stay at the Great George

Our stay at The Great George was a solid three stars. It was satisfactory. The hotel is very charming. The staff is mostly pleasant, and the breakfast, coffee service and other added services were very good and a nice touch. But after a rather long day of travel and sightseeing, you don't want to have to wait an hour or more for your room to be ready, when it's passed the check-in time... and then realize it takes three hours to heat the room to a pleasant temperature to feel comfortable. The hotel is in a great lication with many wonderful restaurants and shops nearby. Maybe the hotel was just having a bad day. One last thing...a good place to look to see how well a hotel room is cleaned is by looking up at the bathroom vent. Dear G.G., you might want to look at those vents...two secconds to vacuum.

My husband and I loved our stay at the George. We were in the DA Bruce building facing the courtyard, on the upper floor. The room was updated nicely, and clean. I found the bed a bit hard and the pillows too full but in saying that, everyone’s preferences are different. The breakfast was excellent and there were many choices. My only complaint is that the seating in the lounge/eating area needs to have more tables. However, the lobby is decorated to match the charm of the hotel which is what I loved most and why I chose it. I would definitely stay again!

Beautiful historic hotel in the heart of everything although very quiet at night. Close to all the main attractions and restaurants. Loved our beautiful room, hotel breakfast and cocktail hour was a bonus. Would love to stay at this hotel again.

Historic hotel in a great location. There is a happy hour in the lobby in the late afternoon, with quite decent wine. The free breakfast buffet is good, with the exception of the undrinkable coffee, which tastes like battery acid. Our spacious room was lovely, but I was surprised that there were no safety/grab bars in the bath tub. We enjoyed our two-day stay. We would stay there again.

We absolutely loved our time here. Lovely hotel, gracious staff, and a beautiful walkable community. I felt safe here and enjoyed the historic buildings and diverse food options. The people were the best though. Would definitely return and definitely recommend The Great George to anyone.
