The Space:
Meet Your Home Away from Home

Our beautiful five-bedroom home sits less than a 5-minute drive from downtown Birmingham and all of its fantastic restaurants, shopping, coffee shops, and more! Come visit our gorgeous outdoor seating area in the back yard complete with string lights, a gas grill, plenty of seating and dining area, and a hammock! Our home also features two secluded workspaces: one with a standing desk and a dual-monitor setup (perfect for Work-from-home!) on the second floor and a second with one monitor and a keyboard + mouse in the finished basement. We also have both a welcoming family room with a fireplace as well as a bright sun room with a big-screen TV for enjoying the big game, playing games with friends and family, or anything else!

Nestled on a beautiful, quiet street close to Birmingham Country Club, Crestview park (with two public tennis courts, a play area, and plenty of room to run around for the kids!), and also a quick drive to Royal Oak, Berkley, Ferndale, and Beaumont Hospital this is the perfect spot for any gathering or getaway!

With just a couple steps up to the front door, our home has one bedroom and a half-bathroom on the ground floor along with the living room, family room, dining room and the kitchen. The second floor features two bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The primary bedroom suite, located on the second floor, has its own en-suite bathroom and closet. Finally, our basement (down a full flight of stairs) features two (2) bedrooms, one full bathroom, an additional secluded living space with a full-sized pullout couch, and two (2) sets of washers and dryers.

99% of guests are visiting family, friends, on a work trip, or just exploring town. For anyone who intends to have a party, disturb the neighborhood, or in any other way violate our house rules, we want to make clear that:

We have a zero-tolerance policy for this. We have noise sensors that alert us if decibel levels pass a certain threshold, and we have unfortunately had to ask guests to leave for violating this rule. Being a good neighbor of the city and the block we are on is very important to us.

We have sensors to detect indoor smoking (nicotine and marijuana) and have an automatic $750 fine for violations, and have also had to ask guests to leave early for violating this rule.

We have a garage that fits 2 cars and Our driveway can fit 2 - 4 cars as well (but would block the garage) and finally, we have free street parking for any extra space needed!

Entry

The house is fully accessible via a YALE smart lock at the front door and on the garage access door. To access the house, enter the code we provide in your reservation check-in instructions, and press the CHECK to unlock.

When leaving, enter that same code followed by the CHECK mark and the deadbolt will close. The locks will also auto-lock after one minute if you forget to lock.

Extra Sleeping Arrangements

Pullout Couch: Underneath the horizontal seat you will find two fabric handles. Pull them out from under the couch and raise up the extra mattress section from underneath the couch. Remove the couch pillows to make space for two!

Extra Linens: Underneath the chaise section of the couch you will find four bath towels and four hand towels, two pillows, a comforter, and extra sets of sheets and pillowcases for the couch and air mattress.

Air Mattress: Designed for camping, our air mattress is extra-sturdy and provides a wonderful sleeping space for two. To inflate, please plug in the pump and wait for it to charge. Once the light on it is solid (not blinking), unplug the pump, insert the end into the air mattress, and flip the switch to inflate.

We love hosting folks, so we want to be as respectful as possible to our wonderful neighbors. Since we’re in a quiet neighborhood, we do ask that you follow a few easy rules:

- No parties & no overnight guests without prior approval. If you’re looking to host a small gathering, that’s probably ok but please let us know.
- Respectful, quiet volume, particularly after 9 pm.
- Please leave your shoes at the door.
- No pets please, as many of the guests we host have allergies.
- No smoking - also, don't discard your cigarettes in house trash cans. They get stinky.
- If you break or damage something, please let us know and arrange for its replacement or repair.
- Do not leave any food out that will attract uninvited pests. Our home is pest-free and we intend to keep it that way with your help.
- NO fireworks allowed

Getting Around

While access to public transportation is not easily available from our house, UBER and LYFT run consistently in the area and are quick, cheap, and accessible options to get anywhere in the Birmingham/Royal Oak/Ferndale and Plymouth/Northville/Canton areas!
