a nice place downtown

A nice place downtown, and a bit more understated than some of the others. It's in an older building that's been reworked as a hotel, which can make for some cool spaces. Be sure to get a room down the hall from the elevator, as the outside floors are old and a bit squeaky, but the rooms themselves are nice and peaceful.

When we checked in the Two concierge personnel, we’re just fabulous! I can’t remember their names, but just fun to talk to you and very congenial. And then we were blessed with an upgrade! Totally unexpected. But very appreciated.

Homewood Suites by Hilton Grand Rapids Downtown

Friday night we ran out of tissues. We left Saturday morning at 9:45 am and did not return until 3:00pm. We removed the do not disturb sign off the door. When we returned, we noticed the room had not been touched. We went to the lobby and as for a tissue box and why wasn’t our room touched. We were told since we stayed two nights, they don’t check the room the first day after you check in. For $200.00 a night we don’t feel this was right. Been at lesser known hotels and always they check room every day. Very disappointed for the price we paid! Also, the thermostat would turn down to 65 degrees in the middle of the night and we were not informed of this happening. Very annoying!

We unfortunately had a rough time at homewood suites as they have quite a number of broken things and there was a fire alarm in the middle of the night. The elevators were off and on working, the fans in our rooms didn’t work at all neither did one of our hair dryers. We felt a great lack of instructions from the staff when it came to these obstacles. They did try their best to be courteous and kind but the hotel its self has very thin walls so I wouldn’t recommmed it if you are trying to get some good sleep.

The first night was a little rough. There was quite a bit of noise from other rooms & above, but I packed a white noise machine & that helped. Staff was wonderful, kind, & always willing to help. I loved the spaciousness of the room& wood floors. I wish I would’ve kept the smaller room with the city view however because not have natural light was a bit disappointing. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Great Suite in Downtown GR

Always comfortable and its a great value. The rooms are nice, staff is friendly, and its in a great spot. You reqlly can't go wrong.
