- Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the property, on the premises, and in any nearby common areas. Violations will result in an automatic $500 fine, plus any additional costs for carpet and upholstery cleaning or other damages caused.
- Please Note: Due to the property's prime location near the ocean, the salty air can naturally cause some rusting on sliding door tracks, closet hardware, and bathroom fixtures over time. This is a natural characteristic of coastal living, and we appreciate your understanding as you enjoy the stunning oceanside experience.
Set amidst a backdrop of lush tropical landscapes, Koana’s Ocean Hale is your retreat for relaxation and rest. But when you’re ready to get out and explore, you’re minutes away from the very attractions that draw visitors to the island. Kealakekua Bay is one of the best snorkeling spots in the entire state of Hawaii due to its spectacular coral reefs. Keauhou Bay has some of the best snorkeling on the planet, with the night dives among Manta Rays being an experience you’ll never forget. Explore Hawaiian history when visiting the nearby petroglyphs, ancient rock carvings dating all the way back to the 16th century.
When in Hawaii, you must of course make the most of the many beaches, hikes, and water activities available. Make sure you also dive into the unique culture of Kona, where coffee shops source beans straight from Kona coffee farms, Big Wave Golden Ale is brewed fresh at the Kona Brewpub, and local farmer's markets are teeming with artisan goods and just-harvested produce.

Other Things to Note:

all excellent. Fully equipped. Bathroom sink slow to drain, but unless you stayed there a couple of days, you wouldn't know. Extremely quiet, nearby units appeared to be fully rented but totally quiet neighborhood. Would be nice if they could include snorkel equipment, but as former owners ourselves, stuff like that tends to walk off.
We enjoyed our week long stay over the Christmas holiday at Koana's Ocean Hale. The condo was as described, modest and clean and located a short walk from Keahou Bay. Even amongst many other condos, the upper lanai has a lovely and serene view of plants and ocean. Having a washer/dryer was useful, though the provided detergent was unusable for those of us with allergy/sensitivity to synthetic fragrances (would recommend replacing with unscented detergent). Proximity to the nearby KTA was ideal and we could pick up our groceries and picnic items with ease prior to our daily excursions. Things I would have liked to know before our stay: 1) The sleeper sofa pull out mattress is made of springs and extremely outdated and uncomfortable. We opted to put the mattress on the floor for better support, but was still very uncomfortable. This might be an okay option for children, but would not recommend sleeping for adults. 2) While kitchen was stocked with cooking tools, it did not have any basics like salt, pepper, or cooking oil, which deterred/limited some of our in-house cooking. 3) There does not appear to be any recycling of cans/bottles on premise. This is really unfortunate to discover after the fact and would deter our stay in the future as our preference would be to stay at accommodations that make an effort to minimize the footprint left behind by visitors to this beautiful island.
This place was definitely not what we expected!
It was an older, not well taken care of, small unit that had a bug infestation. It wasn't the typical topical bug problem...it was an everyday big problem. Ants and worms in the bathroom, on the walls and ceiling and in your towels every morning!
Since it's a corporation that owes this place and not a single owner, it was very difficult to get our issues resolved quickly. We had several maintenance people try, and they did fix some of the smaller issues, but the bugs and the clogging toilet obviously are bigger problems then management wants to disclose.
Another issue was that these units are very close together and have some people that live in them full time. When sitting outside on the lanai you have to whisper unless you want to have your neighbors hear you. You can literally hear everything from their TV's to them using the bathroom since everyone leaves their windows and doors open because there is no air conditioning in these units.
The kitchen was very small and also had ants. The refrigerator and freezer smelled like fish and the floor was flilthy. I truly don't think anyone had really cleaned the unit in a very long time.
We definitely will not be staying here again...and my recommendation is to rent from super hosts in the future, NOT Corporations as I believe they are ruining VRBO's.
