Weird Stains all over the curtains and walls, tub and ceilings were moldy, the air conditioner didn't work at all, thankfully there was one old ceiling fan but was very wobbly. The balcony outside had a wasp nest so we coundnt go out there. The place looks like it hasn't had any type of remodel since the early eighties. No joke. Shady people lurk around the streets and parking lot. Breakfast is super minimal and sad. Honestly I never leave reviews on any hotels but this was pretty crappy especially for being over $100. I wouldn't complain if I was paying about $50 a night..this is what id expect. Pics online are decieving too.

Horror Movie Hotel

Terrible place to stay and don’t recommend to anyone. Supposedly it is a no smoking hotel but soon as you opened the door you get hit in the face with the stench of cigarettes. Light switches not working or lights flickering. Furniture reeked and dirty and bugs everywhere. I had booked for two nights, We couldn’t sleep and had to rough it out for the night and was out at first light. Definitely not worth the money.

We came in for the Alameda 10-miler running event. The Coral Reef was within walking distance of the stsrt line. It was a clean and convenient motel for that purpose.

Coral Reef has always had a fabulous reputation - great location and a fun family place to stay during vaca times. It’s sad to see the decline of the property over the last 30 yrs since I’ve known it. Just sad. I mean - it’s ok to not upgrade - but how hard is it to vacuum and mop? I was surprised to see how unclean the rooms were. While in my room, I stepped on a pinto bean, an m and m and touched a band aid that was stuck to the side of the bed. I’ve always enjoyed staying there - despite the riff raff in and around the building but sadly - this will be last visit. I’m pretty easy going but the rooms were even too filthy and unkempt for the most relaxed me! Most places to stay in the area are not that great either and charge twice the price so pick your poison!

Not a Pearl in this Clamshell

Motel NOT facing ocean, it's across from a mall with balcony views of shopping center (website makes it seem otherwise) Upon arrival, check-in went smoothly with friendly check-in staff...but then I went upstairs. Though it's supposed to be non-smoking, outside my room door reeked of cigarettes Inside the room, wet kitchen floor, stained curtains and carpet with saggy uncomfortable beds that look like salvation army rejected them ( not fit to even sell). The faucet had a constant drip in the kitchenette ( quite annoying) and the linolium in kitchen and bath was moldy and tore up around the edges at the wall and connecting parts ( seams/ molding etc) The only ceiling fan in the room had cobwebs The tv remote died and needed to ask staff for new batteries ( the originals were corroded) Pool was cold ( as expected, thankfully but water not overly chlorinated and water not crystal clear)...Thought about it later and wondered how often they clean it and chlorenate it since the room was inadequately cleaned. Pros: 1)Affordable 2)kitchen for cooking and a larger shared guest kitchen by the pool with pots/ pans etc. so own cookware and dishes not needed, even has dishwasher 3) location is peak just one bowling alley away from the beach and bowling alley has arcade ( fun experience 😀) Overall, location peak but motel property itself needs major renovations and proper cleanliness lacking

The property seemed like it was a long term living facility. When we went to check in we were told they dont have the room we reserved but they had something similar. We went into the room and it was extremely dirty with cigarette burn marks in the bedding and on the floor, blood stains on the curtains for the back deck and suspicious white stains on the chairs and floors, could have been human or something else but we're not too sure. The bed looked like someone rolled in it before we got there and the shower was wet like someone just showered then left.

Not a nice Hotel. Could be nice with renovations and getting rid of the dirtiest carpet I’ve ever seen.. carpets were not clean or vacuumed. Furniture is old and dingy. Our toilet didn’t flush properly the overhead fan squeaked.. the bedding seemed clean…. pretty much the only redeeming quality was the location next to the ocean and food. If they put some money into the place, it would be a real gem.

Will Not Stay Again!!

Was not a pleasant stay, entering smells like smoke and hallways smelled like smoke. Room carpet was dirty and sticky, kitchen floor was sticky. Beds were not comfortable.
