First off - the house is amazing. Itâs clean, very nicely decorated, high-end accommodations. The bedding is nice, towels, mats, etc. The internal environment is well maintained and fully stocked with everything you need. The garage is clean, well organized with tons of beach chairs, bikes, floats, sand toys, etc. We also used the grill to cookout. I especially was appreciative of the utensils, plates, bowls, etc. that were toddler friendly.
The issues:
- the main pool was closed for two out of three days we were there. We were very disappointed. We called the management company which set a false expectation that it would be re-opened âsoon.â It never re-opened, and we were told there was nothing they could do. We were not offered any compensation for the unavailable amenities.
- The pool at the beach club was also closed. So no pool at all for my toddler to swim or for us to cool down coming from the hot beach.
- The power was going on and off one of the evenings. Apparently this happens frequently in this area as mentioned by the locals.
- The walk to the beach is not even close to a short stroll. Itâs a 15min walk. My husband had to drop us off at the beach and bike or walk to and from. The main pool is also not really in walking distance from the house either.
- No parking at pool or beach. The parking is so limited that there are only like 8-10 parking spots to support hundreds of people. And you canât park on the street even though there are no houses.
Beautiful home with everything our family of 4 needed! This was our first visit to Perdido Key where we didn't stay on the beachfront, and it was so much better than I expected! The resort was great my kids 7 and 4 loved the 2 pools and the shuttle bus which we rode everyday. The house was comfortable and decorated beautifully. I moved a few fragile decorations (shells and a picture frame) but for the most part it was very little kid friendly. My kids shared the guest bed (which was rather tall) and were fine but if your kiddos roll you might want to put them on the sofa sleeper instead or bring a bed rail. I brought a step stool for the bathroom, but my 4yr still wasn't able to reach the sink and had to use the tub for handwashing and brushing teeth. Master bed was very comfortable, bathroom was large. Kids plates and bowls, big fridge. Washer and dryer worked well. The checkout and clean up instructions were easy. House had a hang dry rack that we moved to the garage for wet swim suits.
Shuttle was easy to use, make sure to remember the house address đ. You need to call the shuttle for pick up from the house, but it stops frequently at the beach clubhouse. Space on the shuttle is limited so if you want chairs and coolers you should consider using your car to drop off and then bike or shuttle back to the beach. This house had several adult bikes to choose from and we walked from beach to house several times, its not a short walk but was manageable with kids and 1 pool bag.
The property was nice, still in the development stages. The condo that we stayed in was very clean and well equipped with everything we needed.
We tried to go swimming on two different occasions and the pools were closed. We only had 4 days there and 2 out of the 4 we couldn't swim in the pools. Very disappointing!
Beach access could be better if there was a walkway between properties instead of having to walk all the way around the properties.
All in all, it was a nice experience, but we will look at other accommodations for our next trip.
We loved our stay at the Salty Seahorse. Itâs beautifully decorated with all the essentials. If you plan to cook bring more tupperware and/or Ziploc bags to store leftovers. The backporch is screened in and very cozy and quiet with comfortable furniture. The beds are cozy too and kids had access to all their favorite streaming shows. The main drawbacks were that we did not know the garage had 6-7 bikes, kid and toddler pool floaties, sand toys, foldable wagon, beach chairs, umbrella, cornhole game, boogie boards, etc. If I had known this I would not have packed near as much stuff. I asked the property manager, but she was not sure. Also, FYI if you wish to use the shuttle service you can not carry beach chairs onboard. We walked to and from with our stuff and folded wagon in tow each day to the beach for roughly 10 minutes with our kids and luckily didnât run into any rain. The street is nice and family oriented. We didnât use any of the amenities but the pool looked nice. It is definitely a comfortable place to call home temporarily, so I would recommend it 100%!!
We had a wonderful, short stay at this beautiful property that is just a short walk to the beach. Our favorite part was sitting on the screened in porch at sunset overlooking the nature preserve. Can't wait to return for a longer visit.
