Romantic Cottage in a beautiful garden in the Historic Center of Quito

Wantara Garden Suites” is a private condo, hidden behind an adobe wall from colonial times in the historical Centre of Quito. A manor house dating back to 1900 and several adjoining buildings give home to 8 independent apartments. Your Suite is located in one of the adjoining buildings of the manor house, designed for a unique living experience. The modern style independent apartment is carefully decorated and equipped with amenities without loosing the antique charm. A breeze from the Panecillo hill provides fresh mountain air and you sit outside, surrounded by flowers and enjoy the sunny Ecuadorian climate.
An ample common area with gazebo, hammocks and BBQ invites to interact with the other guests in our condominium.
Suite Lagarto ( 48 m2 ) is one of our two medium sized Suites of the 8 apartements. There is a living room with a comfortable sofa bed and dining table, a fully equipped kitchen, a bedroom with queen size bed (160 x 190 cm) and a bathroom. The Suite also has a nice private terrace. Free WiFi internet access, room service once a week is included and laundry service is available at extra charge of 10U$ per load.

From the moment we walked through the doors at Wantara Suites we felt like we were home!! It’s close enough to everything (or a 10 minute taxi ride) but yet it feels like you’re staying in a cottage surrounded by a beautiful garden. I seriously can’t say enough about this property!! From the owners Wolfgang & his always smiling wife to Claudia (the property manager) everyone was super welcoming & they felt like family to us!! I would stay here again & again!!!

Beautiful location, wonderful hosts

This place is beautiful, well kept, and clean. We felt so fortunate to meet the friendly and helpful owners, Wolfgang and Annemarie. What a pleasant surprise that was! I’m a wheelchair user (I can walk some) and would hesitate to recommend this place to anyone who has difficulty walking. The entrance is not wheelchair friendly and the most accessible room is multilevel without hand rails.

Fact finding in Quito

It was a pleasure to deal with Wolfgang and Annemarie. Their property is a magical oasis just a short walk from Old Town Quito, multiple restaurants, bakeries, corner stores, etc. They have lovingly restored their compound, paying attention to every detail - right down to fresh cut flowers placed in each suite from the beautiful gardens on the property. Especially enjoyed relaxing in front of the wood burning stove after a day of exploration - used to take the chill out of the cool Quito evenings. Can not wait to return. There is no reason to search any further for your home away from home in beautiful Quito - book now - you will not be disappointed.

Our oasis in Quito's Historic town

We spent a week in Quito acclimatizing to the altitude before heading out on a week of hiking/running. This place was wonderful and as quiet as you can get in a city of 2 million. It was in a convenient location to the Old Town, and a short walk to the bus tops and places to pick up taxis. The apartment was well furnished with a comfortable bed, well equipped kitchen and lovely fireplace. A couple hints - bring ear plugs - the dogs of Quito do not sleep at night. Take all of Wolfgang's suggestions - he knows the area well and is a great host
