Jones Street Getaway w/ Lunch from Mrs. Wilkes Restaurant by Lucky Savannah

Built toward the end of the 19th century, this one-bedroom, one and one half-bath property is as rich in history as it is charm. Once the home of Mrs. Wilkes, proprietress of the famous Boarding House and still-operational Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room, this parlor-level condo offers a unique stay for up to four Lucky guests. Wake up every morning to beautiful Jones Street, where cobblestones and ancient oak trees dripping in spanish moss compelled Southern Living Magazine to name it the “Prettiest Street in America.”

The original hardwood floors and 12’ ceilings and tasteful interior decor make this home-away-from-home warm and inviting. The large living area has a flat screen TV and a queen-sized sleeper sofa. Pocket doors separate the parlor from the dining room, which has seating for four. The galley-style kitchen is fully equipped with all you’ll need for a weekend getaway or extended stay. The large, elegant bedroom has a king-sized bed with soft, luxurious bedding.

The Wilkes House is an ideal location to call home while exploring the varied sights and activities around the Historic District. Located in the middle of our bustling Design District, stylish shops dot the streets among several historic homes open for touring, including the Mercer Williams House and the childhood home of Flannery O’Connor. With a three night or longer say, you’ll receive one free lunch for two at Mrs. Wilkes’ Dining Room, where you’ll dine like a local and feel like family!

What is parking like for this home?
Parking for this home is on-street and metered, which is enforced by the City of Savannah from Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. Guests may conveniently pay using the ParkSavannah app, feed the meter or parking kiosks directly, or park on a nearby non-metered street. Please take note of posted Sweep Zone signs when parking on the street.

*Guests receive one free lunch for two with every three-night or more booking. The restaurant is typically closed for the month of January. Please contact the Mrs. Wilkes Restaurant directly regarding open and seasonal hours as these may vary. In the event of restaurant closure, we are unable to offer refunds but guests are welcome to use the lunch voucher on your next visit!

Great week in Savannah

This was our first time staying in a VRBO versus a hotel and it was the best decision. Great accommodations located in a perfect part of the city. The property is close to activities downtown, but far enough away to be quiet and peaceful for evening walks or drinks on the front steps. House had everything we needed for a relaxing and comfortable stay, and the team at Lucky Savannah were fantastic at communicating check in and check out information. We will definitely stay here again.

Wonderful experience for our 63rd anniversary!

The accommodations were perfect! We loved the history and the original furnishings. It was comfortable and met all our needs. The bed was super comfortable, the kitchen well stocked, and it was all very clean. Lunch at Mrs. Wilks was amazing. The best chicken and fried okra I have tasted since my mother's cooking long ago....and the Wilks family members hosting were so friendly and full of information. The location was perfect to walk everywhere. We just loved it all and hated for it to be over!

Location perfection!

Beautiful rooms in the heart of lovely Savannah. The location on Jones Street (an official “prettiest” street in America) was a perfect base to walk and explore from. And the delicious lunch from the famed Mrs Wilkes Restaurant was the cherry on top! Don’t miss this southern gem!

Short get away

Great stay in a great neighborhood. Mrs Wilkes restaurant was a great experience and the food was fantastic. The property was close to everything we wanted/needed. After we unloaded our car we parked our car in the Liberty Street Parking Garage and didn't touch it again until it was time to leave. Everything we needed was in walking distance - waterfront, city market, restaurants, grocery store, etc. There is also a FREE bus that runs a route that will take you to the waterfront as well. We really enjoyed our stay here and look forward to coming back.

Great Location But

The location is very convenient. Ill had problems getting in the front door as working the key was a learning curve. The dishwasher didn’t work. I texted management with no response.The advertisement was for 2 free lunches at Wilkes. Did not see where that was offered. The property is right above the restaurant with a line down the sidewalk. The Monday we could have eaten there was limited by an event - not good. The part I did not like was someone came into the property to deliver a blanket I had not requested! I did not appreciate someone coming in while we were not there.I won’t be staying there again.

Amazing location

Great Location

We were in town so I could run the Every Woman’s Marathon and wanted a quiet street
Jones is it! The house is so roomy and I love that there are one and a half bathrooms. We couldn’t figure out the shower (found the sign behind the toilet later!) and called for help. Also missed the towels. Everyone we called and talked to (Candice specifically) was so helpful and didn’t get annoyed with our blunders! Would definitely recommend! Everything was great!

We had a wonderful stay and the Wilkes house was perfect place! Jones street is beautiful and the visit to Savannah was better than we could imagine! Some attention to the tub faucet is needed as the fridge door seal needs a bleaching as it has molded.

Great Location

This charming place is so well appointed and very spacious. It’s on the prettiest street and very convenient to the downtown and River front. Its location makes it so easy to walk to all the beautiful parks/squares and down to the river. We had a lovely stay and would recommend it. Also, since we stayed for 3 nights, we received a complimentary lunch at Mrs. Wilkes dining room which was delicious!
