Beautiful Private Cottage 3 miles from the Sequoia Park Entrance
Tucked into the lower east side of Salt Creek Canyon sits this beautiful hand-crafted 580 square foot guest house on nine acres. Originally built by owner as a writing and painting studio in the late 1980s, it has an open floor plan with a wood beam ceiling and pine plank flooring. All wood furniture is made by owner. The screened in porch opens onto two wooden decks that over look a series of cascading ponds and Salt Creek farther below. A separate driveway from Salt Creek Road (also known as Craig Ranch Road) with carport provides parking and privacy. Location makes it very easy to get to where you want to go, whether it is to the park, to town or to the end of south fork and lady bug trail. A half mile walk or bike ride further up Salt Creek Road gives you access to BLM (Bureau of Land Managementâpublic lands) and Case Mountain for great hiking and mountain biking trails, as well as, Salt Creek waterfalls. (seasonally winter and spring) It is a park all unto itself.
Every review already written says it all. Amazing place in every way. Soulful, restorative, gorgeous. Every thing you could think of provided and the setting is so quiet and restful. We would return in a heartbeat.
Truly amazing! The cabin is so clean and well cared for and the location! Wow. After many days of travel to reach our oasis and then a full day right away the next day in SNF (on 9/30 not knowing at the time if the government would shut down and what that might mean for National Parks) the three days we had to rest, unwind, breathe the wonderful mountain air, listen and watch the many birds and animals that wander byâŠ.they were perfect. Even with some rain on our last full day it was still peaceful. Enjoyed many games of cribbage and most of our in house meals in the wonderful screened in porch. Martha and Rick have done a fabulous job making sure this cottage will be a perfect stay. Thanks for sharing with us. We only hope we can return one day
Wow! We wish that we had a higher number to give it! We have traveled a lot, and we have stayed in a lot of spaces. This is the nicest experience that we have had so far, Everything was perfection from the homemade furniture to the koi pond. Every view from the back of the house overlooks nature. We felt like we were living in a tree house! The deer and hummingbirds kept us company. The only regret is that we didnât have more time to spend there,
We highly recommend this cottage. Great location, private, well furnished and stocked, One of the best VRBO weâve ever stayed at! Love coffee on back porch, lots of different kinds of birds, Koi fish, quail, turkey and deer. Owners are very attentive. Hope to return one day.
This is just the most gorgeous home - we were so impressed with every detail from the beautiful wood furnishings, the art, the windows letting natural light into every corner, the candles, the screened-in porch to have coffee and watch the hummingbirds in the morning, and more. Martha and Rick have truly thought of every amenity you could possibly need to make your stay comfortable. Martha is such a warm and lovely person and we appreciated her communication with us. We would love to return again, perhaps to experience a different season in this magical place!
This cottage is so clean and serene. We watched 6 CA quail and listened to numerous birds while relaxing on the screened porch. We also saw a deer in the driveway. This was a perfect location for enjoying the nearby national parks.
My husband and I stayed for four nights in this cute little cottage. It was perfect for us and I have to say the best VRBO we have stayed at. Martha and Richâs attention to detail and communication, from driving directions to check in and out made everything so easy. Cottage so well appointed it was like living at home. Richâs handmade wooden furniture is gorgeous and the plants, and orchidsâŠjust made you feel at one with nature. Greeted by deer and hummingbirds every morning in our private wooded sanctuary. Just a short drive to sequoia national park and three rivers downtown area. ( Brewery was great and little village store had excellent food.) Bonus hiking right down the road at BLM. They also had multiple books with hiking info for sequoia, kings canyon and Yosemite. Other books and DVDs. Highly recommend!
Perfect location! Great place, lots of amenities and tons of amazing local flora and fauna right on the property. We saw turkeys, bats, deer, bullfrogs, quail, hawks and more. It was exactly what we were expecting from the pics. Did not disappoint! Would definitely come back for another stay. The whole trip was magical!
Our stay at the cottage was exceptional. The location was perfect, offering easy access to the National Park. Every detail was thoughtfully attended to, making our stay incredibly cozy and comfortable. The private setting provided a peaceful and relaxing retreat. Highly recommend!
We loved every minute- it's a truly magical place, exceptionally appointed, with every need anticipated, and thoughtful, artistic details at every turn. We will definitely be returning.
Our stay was perfect. The cabin is beautiful with so many unique touches. Kitchen and bathroom are very generously stocked with anything you might need. Thank you so much!
My husband and I stayed here for a few days while on our honeymoon. It was such a nice and relaxing stay. Martha was great in communicating with us and made sure we had everything we needed. I highly recommend this cottage!!!
This cottage is so calming and relaxing, both inside and out on the property. It is immaculately clean and comfortable. It would be a great place to stay if you needed to get away and do nothing else. Martha is a really neat person to talk to and she and her husband are obviously blessed with creative talents. I would definitely recommend this as a wonderful getaway!
We loved our stay! The owners definitely put in a great deal of time and energy in the furnishings, decor and amenities to make this cabin relaxing and enjoyable. We couldnât have been more thrilled the second we walked in the door and felt inspired and welcomed.
The cottage is a tranquil, serene place to stay. It was clean, well-equipped with everything we needed, and featured thoughtful and homey touches throughout. We would definitely recommend staying here if you plan to explore sequoia national park - itâs just a quick drive away! 10/10.
This home was exquisite. Weâve stayed in a lot of nice places. This was not just nice, it felt like home. I wanted to read every book on the shelves. The furniture is handmade by Rick. Much of the art is Marthaâs. Iâve never been in a cleaner, more well appointed, more organized rental. Martha has gone out of her way to try to anticipate everything her guests might need and, at least for me, everything I needed was exactly where I looked for it. Luxurious in a very understated and comfortable way. Quiet. So much wildlife carries on around the koi cascades. If you just sit you will see a myriad of small birds and mammals. We loved watching the hummingbirds. We even had a bear visit, which was exciting! I hope that someday we have a chance to return to this serene oasis! We cannot thank Martha and Rick enough for their hospitality and kindness.
