We have stayed at the Stonewall Resort since it first opened. We appreciate the natural beauty and the friendliness and professionalism of their (shrinking) staff. In the past few visits we have noticed a significant decrease in the quality of the rooms and amenities. For the prices charged, they really must do something to update their rooms, particularly the bathrooms. We booked several rooms last weekend. All were lake view rooms and all were desperately in need of updates.The bathrooms were horrible. Stained, broken, poorly repaired porcelain tubs, broken and moldy tiles and grout, and no amenities. I have literally stayed in self-service Holiday Inn Expresses with nicer facilities. The staff were sparse. We couldn’t find anyone to check us out for purchases at the pool gift shop area. Housekeeping is still offered on an as requested basis. We enjoyed three complete meals, snacks, and drinks at Stillwater’s and TJ Muskies. The food was wonderful, and our waitress, Heather Montgomery, three of the four visits over 3 days was excellent. We truly found our restaurant experience to be the best part of the visit and based on the crowd on Saturday evening and Sunday, that is the big draw to the lodge. We hope the State of WV and the investors in the Resort will do better, invest more,and give this beautiful location the commitment it deserves to attract more visitors to this gorgeous area in West Virginia. We will return in hopes that things will improve.

The view of the lake from your room, restaurants, patio....all lovely! The pool was supernice. Coffee bar in the lobby was awesome

Tried again, failed again

I thought id give them another try since last time wasnt so great. Still no improvement. We were given a handicap room. Carpet is frayed/peeling and dirt. Found dog food and unknow debris everywhere. Cups had dry cofee in them. Soap dispenser empty. Toilwt paper empty no spare. Not clean at all. Not a resort experience at resort cost. Staff, and restaurants are great.

The first room had no heat, moved to another room. The property lost power and had to move out and find another place to stay for the night. While I understand the act of nature was beyond their control, the lack of empathy was bothersome.

Marijuana Use Compromised Our Enjoyment of Hotel

Relatively great experience; we relaxed for a day and a half without any problems however, our last night we chose to leave the resort in the middle of the night; the smell of marijuana from somewhere else in the hotel was making things uncomfortable for us so we went home; it’s a shame that marijuana use ruined such a nice place to relax

It was blizzard time, and we loved it!

Very nice park resort. The resort is decorated so beautifully for the Holidays. Our family groups love coming there to stay for a weekend during the Holiday season to get together for meals, activities, and just to celebrate the Season together. Our children love coming there as much or more then we do and look forward to it every year! However, I must be truthful in saying the activities for children did really disappoint this year. We have all ages of children in our group from 3-18 and there was not much besides the pool to entertain them. The games in the library need updated/replaced with all pieces to play them. Maybe a fully stocked game room again like in the past would have been nice. Maybe a ping pong table, pool table, air hockey, etc ? Ice skating was nice last year so you could imagine the disappointment when it wasn’t there this year. The bow making class, wreath making class are nice for adults but most kids aren’t interested in these so maybe a couple extra choices in addition to these just for kids maybe 10-15 years old would be nice. Possibly ice skating or roller skating is another option that was would be a hit. Breakfast with Santa is definitely great for the younger children and so enjoyable but there wasn’t options for 8-18 year olds. The resort is amazing and the staff is awesome and very accommodating but without fun activities all of this doesn’t much matter to the children!
