The location of the Plaka Hotel is perfect - with the Plaka neighborhood on one side and Monastiraki on another. The Acropolis view rooms have a stunning view of one of the world's most iconic sites. When we checked in, were greeted in our room with a a jug of cold water, a bottle of wine and an assortment of baklava - lovely! The staff was super-helpful. My family and I stayed a night, then checked out to take an overnight trip to Hydra, and checked back in the next day. They allowed us to keep our bags at the hotel no questions asked. They provided information when needed and arranged for an airport transfer for us. The breakfast buffet was lovely; the rooms were clean (with a great shower), and the hotel is well-kept. The only downsides - 1) The rooftop bar could use a bit of sprucing up. The view is fabulous, but the seating is pretty drab. It seems like a missed opportunity for something really special. 2) The elevator is really small. So if you have lots of bags, getting up and down when things are busy, requires a a few extra minutes. Plan accordingly, and it isn't a problem. I would absolutely stay there again.

Excellent small hotel, great locale

Pros: Location, professional staff, clean and comfortable.
Location: It is right in the heart of Plaka, the most interesting area for tourism, restaurants, shops, flea market. It is a reasonable walk to the Acropolis.
The Plaka Hotel is a great find, a very nice hotel situated perfectly for touring visitors. The staff was uniformly helpful and professional. The rooms are small, but comfortable. Good wi-fi, heat (not true at all places we stayed), breakfast included, and stunning views of the Acropolis. Rooftop bar was fabulous spot to watch New Years fireworks, and would probably be great in warm weather. As we found, Greece can be cold.

Nice Hotel, Great Location, Amazing View

Pros: Location and rooftop bar.
Location: Location was very convenient to all historical locations.
Room is clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful with directions and suggestions. Location is within 10 minute walk to the Acropolis. Roof top bar has an incredible view of the Acropolis. Usually closes at 11:30 PM The two nights we were there was a full moon and they kept the bar and rooftop open till 12:30 AM for the best views. Very kind.

Great central location

After much research we settled on a bargain rate via TripAdvisor link for Plaka Hotel. We stayed four nights and loved it. Easy to get to off the Metro. Totally friendly staff. Excellent breakfasts with staff on hand to answer questions, offer tips, and give maps and directions to the great sites. Bed was lovely. Completely comfy. Room clean and fresh. You can tell it's an older hotel with some worn edges, but not anything to turn you away. The great location made walking to the major sites a breeze. And the National Archeological Museum is a pretty easy connection as well. Breakfast really was super with eggs, fresh fruit juice, pastries, Greek dishes, toast, yogurt, pudding, fruit....fantastic selection. I'd definitely stay there again.
