Whether you look west towards Tremezzo, East towards the Grigne Mountain range or due north for that picture-postcard view of Bellagio’s iconic promontory and all the three branches of Lake Como. You even get the Alps rising majestically in the background! It's pretty much impossible to drag yourself away from the terrace, whether you are enjoying a meal al fresco or simply relaxing in one of the sun loungers!

With the very efficient local boat service just an easy five-minute drive down the hill in the heart of Bellagio’s historical center, exploring the lake from your villa home base couldn't be easier. For those looking to head further afield, you can be in Lecco in just 35 minutes or in Como in just 50 minutes, with Milan, Bergamo and Lugano (in Switzerland!) all within an easy 90 minute drive.

For those times when you don’t have chef service at the property, you could be sitting down in one of the local restaurants or pizzerias, eating some of the best brioche you’ll ever taste at the pastry store or mingling with the locals at the bar and small grocery store within an easy 5-minute drive. Of course, the historical center of Bellagio also boasts a wide range of stores, bars, restaurants and pizzerias to choose from - the lakes are your oyster!

Villa Sonni is perched on a hill above Bellagio, overlooking three branches of Lake Como. The nearest village provides several restaurants, cafes and shops and can be reached in a short car-ride.

The area around Lake Como is one of outstanding beauty. Stretching from the Swiss Alps to the Grigne and Legnone ranges, Lake Como is guarded by spectacular mountain landscapes. Pastel-coloured villages perch along the shorelines and trail up the steep sides. In this part of Italy, there are the simplest rural dwellings as well as the palatial villas of the 18th century.

A walk around one of these central lake villages, up a cobbled avenue or across a church square, will convince visitors to pause for a moment on a sunny bench, to stop for an aperitivo at a sidewalk café or pop into a gelateria for homemade ice cream.

Whether exploring the lake by foot, car or boat, it should be a leisurely experience. Choose from one of the numerous activities the area offers, or simply enjoy the comfort of the splendid private villa.

For the city lovers, Como and Lecco are both within an easy 50 minutes drive of the Villa while Milan and Bergamo are only 1.5 hours drive away. Guests who prefer walking can head into the hills behind Villa Sonni. This area offers some wonderful walking, hiking and mountain biking options that should not be missed.

Milan itself opens up an array of possibilities. Visit Leonardo Da Vinci’s Last Supper and the Duomo or stroll down the famous shopping street of Via Montenapoleone.

Guests also have the possibility to explore some of northern Italy’s other lakes, such as Lake Maggiore in Piedmont to the west or even a day trip into Switzerland. For the cultural enthusiasts, the historical city of Turin in Piedmont is well within reach, as are Venice and Verona heading east.
