This is a wonderful hotel; everything was perfect. The room was clean and comfortable, and everyone was so nice and helpful. I highly recommend this lovely establishment to anyone seeking an exceptional experience.
Our stay was amazing! It was the small details that really made it for us, such as the great toiletries, the coffee machine serving amazing drinks, spring water bottles, and the friendly staff. The rooms were impeccable.
GREAT overall.
We loved the location, food court and subway within a 100 ft, the esplanades pool a 5-7 min walk, 5 minute walk to the harbour to catch a Great Barrier Reef tour, nice coffee room with cookies available all day free. We wished they had a safe as we had to always carry our passport and money with us meaning only one could swim at a time.
It is a small hotel. No onsite restaurant, but plenty of decent cafes and restaurants nearby. Free coffee and biscuits in the lounge. Very clean. Everything works as it should. Staff are helpful. There is no specific left luggage room, just a space underneath the stairs. Shower was good in my room. I enjoyed my stay and would recommend it to others.
My complaint is not with the hotel or our stay itself - the accomodations were perfectly fine. My disappointment was in the unwillingness of neither the hotel manager nor Hotels.com to help resolve a perfectly innocent mistake in the original booking. At the time of the booking, I reserved a room with my credit card, to be paid upon arrival at the hotel. A few hours later, I edited the booking to pay for the hotel with Hotels.com reward points instead, but somehow this inadvertently created a double booking which I was not aware of until we signed in at the hotel. Upon arrival I was informed I had two rooms reserved and despite my complaint, they charged my card. I was told more than once it was past the cancellation period, even though there was no way I could have cancelled a reservation I was unaware of. Despite several emails and submitting documents to Hotels.com, they were unable to refund my points as they stated there was no record of the double booking. And despite the hotel's subsequent ability to rent the extra room for two nights to the friends we were travelling with after their air conditioning unit malfunctioned, the manager was unwilling to even offer a partial refund. He had led me to believe there might be some adjustment after I worked with Hotels.com, but my two emails to him after returning home were unanswered.
We were a bit concerned that the reception is available only during limited hours but it was not an issue. We got an entry code in case we arrived when the reception desk was not staffed. The area around the hotel is quite busy with lots of shops and restaurants. The staff was really helpful like for example confirming a pickup spot for our day trip since I didn't have an Australian phone.
We loved the location, it was nearby everything we needed to see in our 3-day stay in Cairns. The view was pretty lame because our room window was right in front of where 5-6 A/C condensers were placed, so we couldn't see anything. Our sheet cleanliness was questionable because it was stained. Bathroom was fine, however the shower glass door was poorly designed and after every shower the outside floor was flooded. It was quiet though, bed comfort was ok, and room was spacious. Free water, coffee, and snacks in the common area were a nice plus. Overall, it was a decent stay.
I enjoyed myself much. Everything the hotel served me was very good. Clean, safe and convenient. Next time I will choose the hotel again. Thank you for comfort.
