Trains are a factor of life in all Canadian mountain towns. From the very beginning Canmore was built around the train line, including 90% of the local hotels and condos in town, which means that this property is along a train line, however, it is very well insulated against sound. Bedrooms are on the opposite side of the condo from the train line and the train should not disturb even the lightest of sleepers. Watching the trains go past is actually quite fascinating and not just for the train buffs! Please read our guest reviews for previous insight.

1.) Queen mattress in one room is finished: it sags badly in the middle, and its innards are exposed one side (visible if you lift the sheeting). 2.) The mattress covering sheet on the same bed was threadbare and had off-colour staining. 3.) The lock on the entrance door jammed badly, and I had to labour to lock it properly. I barely managed. 4.) There were footprints on the floors when we arrived - the kind wet feet might have caused. 5.) The two kitchen faucets run VERY SLOWLY, which is frustrating.

We had a small Christmas family reunion at Canmore. The property is clean, well-stocked, and centrally located. We have had a few small issues during our stay, but management was prompt to resolve it. Thanks!

3 night family getaway

I’ll start with the negatives. The advertising for the property lists it as a 5 bedroom, when there are actually 4 bedrooms. I did point this out to the property management team. But no changes have been made so far. It also states that the condo is 1.5km from the nearest ski lift. That is simply not the case. You have to climb a flight of 20 stairs to access the main floor. That makes it a bit challenging to unpack. And we had a 92 year old with us. The condo is located 50 metres away from the train tracks. There were at least a dozen trains a day. You could hear and feel each one. All 4 bedrooms were at the front of the condo, and the train tracks were at the back. I was never awoken because of the trains.Now, the positives. The "adjoining double condo" concept was fantastic. We had more than enough of room for the 11 of us. 2 full kitchens, living rooms and dining rooms were perfect. We never ate out. We cooked all our meals at the condo, and we all sat very comfortably around the dinning room table. Everyone enjoyed their bedrooms. We had plenty of space for everyone to sit and do their own thing if, and when they wished. A very short walk to grocery, and liquor stores. As well as the Royal Bank.The condos are located above a strip mall, but that really didn't matter. Except for the passing trains, we enjoyed very quiet nights. I would recommend Summit house, regardless of the negatives. It is great for a large group. You will never feel "closed in".

Banff 2024

Summit Place was great for our family vacation. The location was spot on and so convenient to most everything in Canmore and a short drive to Banff. The office staff was awesome! They provided us with park passes and bear spray which saved us some money. We highly recommend if you're heading to Canmore/Banff area.

Autumn Vacation

The train is the most annoying when staying at this place!!! The train runs about every 2-3 hours, all day long. My brother and my husband slept in the living rooms. They counted the train ran across 3-4 times from 9:00 pm to 6:00 am every night. This was the most disturbing loud noise. I cannot even hear my conversation or TV every time the train runs across for 4-6 minutes, during the daytime. The view from the window in livingrooms and kitchen are very nice but the train noise washed away the view.

Great Canmore location

Our 2 family group made good use of the dual condo space with 2 kitchens, 2 living areas, and 2 laundry centers. The location was easily walkable to groceries and town center and convenient to highway for excursions to other areas. Be aware the place is located in a busy strip mall setting but we got used to that. Not really private but back porch views were amazing if you look past the alleyway. The kitchen pans and laundry facilities could use some upgrades but overall a comfortable convenient place to stay in Canmore

Good Location, Perfect for Families

Nice double unit, perfect for families and privacy. There are lots of stairs to get in/out of the unit. Plenty of dishes and utensils are in the units; however not a lot of serving dishes. The crock pots (3 total in the combined units) all are missing a part, so none were usable. There is a nice, large table and plenty of chairs for family dinners. An extra trash can for recycling is needed in each unit.

Great location!

The penthouse was able to fit our large group of friends. They offered everything you would need - even a waffle maker! Walking distance to Safeway and amazing restaurants. Easy access to highway (20 mins from Banff). Would highly recommend!

Great location for Banff and beyond

The property was great with every thing we needed. It’s two apartment made into one which makes for a great setting for the 9 of us. It’s in a strip mall so initially we were concerned about noise or how it was going to work but it was great. Outside of the hustle and bustle but close enough to get to everywhere we needed. We didn’t have any issues while there but the office was located close in case we did. Would definitely rent again and recommend to anyone.

Perfect stay for a family vacation

I'll start by saying that Canmore is a beautiful place to stay for your Banff trip as it offers the same unmatched views of majestic Rockies without letting you spend a bomb on pricey Banff properties. Summit Place Penthouse was our home for six days during our recent Banff trip. The rooms were cleaned and up-to-date when we arrived. The kitchen was well equipped with kitchenware required for our day to day cooking. What I loved about this unit was that it is conveniently located within walking distance from groceries and restaurants. The view from the patio was breathtaking as you can see Mount Rundle, Mount Lawrence Grassi and Three Sisters peak welcoming you to the Canadian rockies. Note that there is a railway track running right behind the rental unit, so it may not be good idea to sleep in the living room. However the bedrooms are conviniently laid out such that the train sound won't bother you at night. The unit had a plenty of board games to keep our kids disconnected from their devices. The TVs were setup with subscription services like Netflix, Disney+ and Prime in case you want to just relax and catch a movie at the end of a tiring outdoors. The Rockies Rentals support team was awesome and responded quickly to our requests. Letting us borrow a park pass saved us a hassle of buying one for our Banff tour. Overall we enjoyed our every bit of stay in this unit and will highly recommend this place for your upcoming Banff trip.

Great space for large group

We came to Canmore for a family wedding. Four couples stayed and it is great because we all had our own bedroom and bathroom. Great kitchen that was very well stocked with everything you need to cook with. Lots of extras. Also other people came over between the ceremony and reception and it was a great place to gather and visit. Good location for a quick walk to downtown.

A nice place in a good location

The staff were unusually responsive and very helpful. We enjoyed the place, especially the "great room" in 5B (kitchen, dining & seating area). The cooking "pantry" basics provided were very helpful. We appreciated the view, the short walk to the grocery & liquor stores, and only those sleeping on the fold out couches were bothered at all by the trains. The single bed nooks are challenging for adults to use.

Honestly for the outrageous price this place is not worth it. We expected everything to be in top top shape especially after we received an email stating that a crew had came and checked out the pad before arriving. When we arrived the house was not checked out prior to our arrival. Water heaters weren’t working, fireplace didn’t work, house was in rough shape, dishwasher doesn’t work and just all around WAY TOO EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT THEYRE OFFERING.

The set up in our VRBO was fantastic. There was plenty of room for everyone to sleep and the double living rooms and kitchen were extremely convenient. The location could not be more accessible to everything Canmore has to offer. A great property and great hosts.

Condo had all amenities and well furnished. However entrance on a busy street and a busy rail line in the back which was the main view of the living room window. Not the quietest of locations.

Great Location

This place was super comfortable for our group of 6. It was close to the shopping centers and trails. The train passes along the back side of the property, which some in the group said was loud, but most of us slept just fine and was not a bother. Catching the train at the right time make for a great picture when you catch "Canadian Pacific". I will definitely stay here again. The only real complaint from the entire group is that the beds could be more comfortable. Either way, we enjoyed our stay and recommend the place.

Quiet, clean, and huge.
