Joliet, Illinois is located just 40 miles southwest of Chicago but refuses to stand in the shadow if its more famous neighbor. Transportation from ORD and MDW
ORD has many options for travel to Joliet. There are about a dozen car rental companies serving ORD, which can be found in each of the airport's terminals, making renting a car a breeze and cabs are also available near the exits of all terminals. Airport shuttles are also available at reasonable prices, but require a reservation. The cheapest and longest option is public transportation: take the CTA Blue Line from ORD to Chicago's LaSalle stop, then get on the Metra RI Line to Joliet.
For those with Joliet flights into MDW, they will find about 10 car rental companies to serve them, all conveniently located in the same facility, accessible by a shuttle that picks up outside lower lever door #3. Cabs can be found in front of the terminals on the lower level and shuttles may be reserved on the cheap.
