Our recent stay at Discovery Samal Resort fell short of expectations, especially for the premium rates they charge.
Check-in Process:
The entire check-in experience was disorganized. We had already completed check-in at the Davao waiting area before boarding the catamaran, so having to go through another full check-in upon arrival at the resort felt unnecessary and inconvenient. The process needs better coordination.
Dining at Haribar:
We had lunch at Haribar, but the food was honestly not tasty at all considering the price. For a resort positioning itself as luxury, the quality and flavor really need improvement.
Service & Staff:
The staff were polite, but the overall service didnât match the luxury label. Even though our luggage was pre-tagged prior to boarding, we still had to bring our own bags to the room. This is something the resort team should handle.
Privacy Concerns:
One major issue is the lack of privacy. Certain areas of the resortâparticularly near rooms and shared spacesâfeel too exposed, and you donât get that secluded or exclusive atmosphere expected from a high-end property. It affects the overall experience and sense of relaxation.
Amenities:
Basic recreational amenities like billiards should be complimentary. Charging extra for small activities doesnât align with the upscale rates theyâre asking.
Overall Value:
For the price we paid, the experience simply wasnât worth it. With other luxury resorts in the area offering better food, smoother service, a
