The air conditioning/ heating is broken, in January, in Edinburgh, in every single room. And they’ve run out of electric heaters. They don’t tell you when you check in in the hopes you’ll be ok with it. Had to rebook in a leonardo and get a refund- did f want to pay £120 for a freezing cold room.

Overall, the stay was nice and the hotel is in a good location, around a 15-minute walk to the town centre. However, we were misinformed about the room we had booked. We were told it was a Privilege Room, but on arrival we were given a disabled-access room with a very different layout to what was shown in the pictures, which was disappointing. We raised this during our stay, but unfortunately nothing was done to resolve it. Aside from this issue, the stay itself was pleasant.

We were put into a room with disabled facilities which was not what we booked and told we could move to a room in the basement but that was smelly so kept disabled room. After first night we woke up to our bedroom carpet being wet. They said we had done it from our showers but said it wasn’t so had to move rooms again.

Our stay at this hotel was very nice an had a lot of good accommodations. It was also in a nice location that was easy walking distance to all the attractions. We were a little surprised to have a room in the very lower level, below ground level, but it was quite and comfortable. The shower was always warm and room was clean. The room cleaning services were also very great and they cleaned our room well everyday. There were just little things that could have been updated or maybe a little outdated, which is why we didn’t rate ir 5 stars, but overall is was a comfortable and nice place to stay and we would stay again, however next time booking an above ground room.

The heating didn’t work and wasn’t rectified. Following this, the next day the room was not turned over by house keeping. Service and response from the reception team was rude and we ended up checking out a day earlier than planned.

So I didn’t want to write this but it’s been 3 weeks and no one from the hotel has reached out and I really hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else. A staff member let a random male guest into my room on the first night, without knocking or announcing themselves. ( I had the do not disturb and deadlock on). Lucky the man(guest) said oh sorry and left . When I asked reception why and how he was let in they said “ I used my staff key as the guest told me 207 was his room number and his key wasn’t working” I stated we have all forgotten room numbers, you should always double check. And it wasn’t working because it wasn’t his room it was mine. He did a little laugh.. maybe he thought I was kidding? I asked to move rooms as I was pretty upset at this point but was met with confusion and was asked “ so what’s the reason?” which was really frustrating, I felt bad thinking that I was overreacting but I just didn’t feel safe in that room or comfortable leaving my stuff in there when I was out. Which I said. I had prepaid so if I left I wouldn’t get a refund. I was there for 3 days no one contacted me. I followed up multiple times asking to talk to a manger to make sure it doesn’t happen to someone else. I gave my mobile & email. Nothing. Location it’s abit far away from the centre. Edinburgh is a gorgeous city but this experience was in the back of my mind. No one acknowledged a mistake or apologised which made me feel stupid. Saddly I wouldn’t ever stay again.
