The Sands is an older place, maybe built in the 60's? They did a light renovation a few years ago, so it is nice. But the best thing about the Sands is the view. They provide a nice little balcony, big enough for a small table and chairs, where you can fade away while watching the never ending boat traffic on the intercoastal. Look the other way and you have a distant ocean view which is also nice. When you first walk in the door to your room your eyes jump to the wall to wall windows and that special view. It is just fabulous. Lots of activity going on below, especially at Lola's bar and restaurant, which is very active, but not too loud. The staff is friendly and they provide coffee and a boxed breakfast of a bagel, yogurt and juice, which is nice.

The staff were great. Couldn’t ask for nicer or more accommodating people. The room was another thing. The shower was terrible. Had to have maintenance come in. They were great. Room was very hot because of the sun and the a/c wasn’t efficient. The real problem were the roaches. Short of tearing it down I doubt there is anything that can be done. They have changed the way you get food by the pool. No more grill so the food is much more formal. No more fish dip or steamed shrimp. Very pricey. Aperol spritz was almost $20 by the pool. Won’t be returning even though the location is amazing.
