Clean and comfortable beds, generally clean everywhere. Inside cozy; kitchen easy to work and eat in. Bathroom needs towel rack or hooks and tub needs refinishing or replacement, although the shower and water all works fine. There was one lamp with burned out bulb so that was a dark bedroom. Drive to the house was difficult at the entrance due to sharp turn and pot hole, and the neighbors' excessive vehicles. We enjoyed our visit to Harpers Ferry
This house close to quite a few wineries (10 mins) and 15 mins from old town Harpers ferry. Itâs set in a quiet residential area. Comfortable house. One bedroom downstairs and 2 upstairs. Nice sitting area with TV streaming options and games. One bedroom upstairs has a TV too. The beds were comfortable, plenty of blankets and pillows. Washer and dryer available too. Host was very nice and allowed us to bring an extra dog and was easy to communicate with. I would definitely stay here again.
When I first booked the property, everything was great. And 24 hours prior to leaving we got an email stating all the details! Upon arrival, you could tell that no one had been out to the property in seemed like months. We realized quickly that we didn't have any running water. And there were dead flies everywhere upstairs, as well as mouse droppings all over the kitchen. (In coffee mugs, on top of the counter, etc.) After calling the host 2 times, Vrbo was finally able to get ahold of said person. Was promised that Maintenance would be out within an hour. After 30 minutes I get a message from the host asking to call her because she spoke with maintenance. Called her 3 more times no answer. Vrbo this time wasn't able to get ahold of her. Meaning we had a pregnant woman with us we deemed it unsanitary and found a hotel down the road. Another hour went by the host said she forgot her phone at home while going to get groceries. (It was 9pm) Told us through text that maintenance wouldn't be out until the following morning, 'first thing.' I asked what time to expect the maintenance guys and no answer. We got back to the property the following morning with no answer from the host or Vrbo. At which time our group figured we wouldn't waste more of our vacation here, and left. Later that morning the host texted and said she was in rental court. I have been on the phone back and forth with Vrbo for the last 7 days and still have not gotten a refund. I highly do not recommend!!!!!!
First the house was very nice and clean. There were a few things that could have been better. The pictures indicated a combination coffee pot/keurig but there was only a regular coffee pot. The window blinds were in poor shape. The doors did not seal well, so there were mice droppings. The instructions on how to use everything were great! Easy to connect to internet. The beds and furniture were very comfortable. Even with the minus' we would rent this house again.
We had great communication with the property manager up until our arrival (no problems with check in). When we entered the house, it appeared that messy guests had left over a month ago and no clean up was done. Every surface was sticky, mouse droppings were in drawers and closets, and sheets and towels were on the floor. The property manager was messaged but did not respond so we cleaned for 2-3 hours to make it habitable for the night as it was late. We found alternate lodging asap. The property manager has since reached out, apologized, and refunded our stay.
I would like to start off with saying overall we enjoyed the stay once we got inside. It is an older house, reasonably kept and conveniently located. Had everything we needed with comfortable beds. Main negative of house was that it could use window treatments on a couple more windows for privacy.
Main issue: Access or lack of explanation. The house has an electronic lock on the front door. We have used these several times with no problem. All of the others had a seperate button for each number. This one shares a button for each two numbers. No explanation that you have to push the buttons a specific way to register the different numbers or that you also have to depress the lock button to complete the unlock process. I had been given that info as part of the lock process.
When we had trouble getting in I called the phone number provided. Left a voice mail. Received a call back from a very nice lady who informed me that her number was an incorrect listing. I don't believe I was the first. I next sent two different text to the number provided. Never did get a response from them. All of this with a wife not feeling well and needing to get in. We finally went to CVS and I contacted VRBO. Had a very nice conversation there and they were able to reach someone who didn't know how their keypad worked but did get me in touch with their maintenance man.
Finally got somewhere. He explained how you have depress the buttons but he forgot to tell me to press the lock button after entering the code. I had tried that early on before I knew how to properly enter the numbers but didn't think of it later. As I said earlier, I was given that as a lock sequence. All you have to do to lock it is press the lock button. The maintenance man finally got us in for the night using actual old school keys. The next morning he came by and we got the lock functions worked out. After that everything worked great.
Overall, it was a good stay once we got in.
My suggestions: Either get a lock with separate buttons for each number or give a good explanation of how to use the keypad installed. Don't forget the lock button for entry. Lock box for actual keys is a smart idea but the number on the box needs repainted. Didn't see it at first in the dark the way my flashlight was shining on it. Only saw it when angle changed. Last, provide good contact info and respond back when contacted. When you're tired, it's cold and dark, you don't want to have an issue contacting someone.
Some friends and I stayed here for a long weekend. We pre-arranged an early check-in with the host weeks in advance, but then arrived at the agreed upon time and the place hadn't been cleaned since the previous guest. We were unable to reach the host all weekend, and in fact they never responded to my messages inquiring about this, even after the stay. They did, however, send several automated and generic messages.
The place was as advertised other than that. A couple of mice, but not too many.
Smack dab in the middle of Virginia's wine country
We visited the area to attend a friend's wedding in western Louden County, and this being in midst of fall foliage season, available accommodations were scarce. Instead of vanilla hotel room in Herndon, we went totally the opposite direction--literally and figuratively--and were glad that we did.
Left property almost immediately. Fully refunded that's why no record.
Case number 37262090 house full of trash and dirty. We were on the phone with VRBO for 3 hours and we went to a hotel. There was no good phone number for the owner and it has been 48 hours waiting for the owner to respond to your email.
Spacious home in the country, enjoyed the front porch and big TVâs. Could be better with new tub, window coverings and replace carpet with new flooring.
